Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Liverpool vs. Arsenal at International Friendlies
English Premier League spirit will overwhelm Philadelphia this week, as Liverpool and Arsenal clash in a friendly international matchup. Despite being friendly, this game won’t be relaxing or ceremonial; Arne Slot has a lot of work ahead of him with the Reds, and he needs to tighten up all the lines in the team and adjust the players to his own system. Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta attacks the title this year, and he wants his team to be in perfect shape before the EPL begins.
Liverpool
The Reds don’t have Klopp, but Slot shares many similarities with his German predecessor. He, too, likes a fast and aggressive approach on the field, and we should see Liverpool equally attractive as in the past. A 1-0 win over Betis wasn’t impressive at all, and the fans expect an improvement now.
The Reds have played without several of their best players, with a completely different backline from the starting one. The only one with enough experience to match big-time games was Tsimikas, who was the best on the pitch against the Spaniards.
Van Dijk, Gakpo, Trent, and several others are out due to their participation in the previous EURO. Diogo Jota is in the USA, though he is not expected to start this event.
Arsenal
The Gunners have already played two matches. The first was against Bournemouth, which saw a tie after 90 minutes and Arsenal’s 5-4 victory after the penalty shootout. The second event was much more attractive and tougher, with Manchester United being the rival.
After 90 minutes of solid battle in which the Gunners showed more than the Red Devils, Arteta’s side was victorious, 2-1. United took the lead, but the Brazilian connection between Jesus and Martinelli brought triumph.
We haven’t seen any changes in Arsenal’s style of play. They are still pressuring the flanks, have a high percentage of the ball possession, and want to dictate the tempo on the field at any cost.
Liverpool: Kelleher; Bradley, Quansah, van den Berg, Tsimikas; Endo, Jones; Salah, Szoboszlai, Carvalho; Elliot
Arsenal: Hein; White, Timber, Kiwior, Zinchenko; Thomas, Jorginho, Odegaard; Viera, Jesus, Trossard
Liverpool and Arsenal met three times during the previous season. The record was neutral because the first EPL game at Enfield ended in a tie, 1-1; the second ended 0-2 for the Reds at Emirates, which was the FA Cup; and the third, which was the EPL, concluded with Arsenal’s 3-1 triumph.
Liverpool is still heating up and even though they have several starters available, it seems that Arsenal has more stars at disposal than the Reds. Overall, at this stage of the preseason and with the respective rosters we will give an edge to the Gunners.
Our verdict: Arsenal wins
