Liverpool vs Crystal Palace Prediction

Liverpool and Crystal Palace will meet in the closing game of the English Premier League round 2 on Monday night. The Reds are playing their opening game of the season at home, and have a massive motive to win this one. Additionally, Jurgen Klopp’s unit failed to beat Fulham last Saturday, therefore, three points are a must on Monday. As for Palace, they, too, didn’t start the season as expected, losing at home to Arsenal at the EPL premier. This is another tough challenge for Patrick Viera’s unit, and they have no other option but to go out and give their best.

The Reds slipped at Craven Cottage, with Aleksandar Mitrovic outplaying Virgil Van Dijk like just a few players have in the past. Maybe it was just a lucky day, or the Reds underestimated the rivals, but Fulham deserved that point, that’s for sure.

Darwin Nunez continued his excellent form from the previous year, and the Uruguayan shows glimpses of greatness. He could very well be the next superstar in Liverpool, only if there is consistency in his game.

Regarding consistency, there hasn’t been any in Liverpool’s performances since the start of the preseason. They had some very poor games, but on the other side, wins against RB Leipzig and Manchester City were impressive. So, Klopp needs to tighten up the situation a bit more and put all the pieces of the puzzle in their place. Liverpool can’t allow having a deficit behind City early on.

Crystal Palace

The Eagles lost to Arsenal 0-2, even though they had a few solid chances and an initiative for a solid amount of time during that event. The striker failed to show up, while on the other side, Palace’s back line wasn’t focused all the time. 

Patrick Viera and the Eagles had nine preseason friendlies, but that didn’t mean anything. Instead of entering the campaign at full speed, Palace was mediocre, showing many flaws along the way. Though, we need to say that Arsenal plays terrific these days. 

The game against Liverpool was the first one in which they didn’t score after six straight. The interesting thing is that the previous non-scoring event was also against the Reds, back in mid-July in a friendly international, 2-0, also.

Klopp will fire up his unit for this event because he knows that a poor result here (which is anything but a win) could have long-term consequences. Imagine the Reds potentially falling behind Man CIty’s four points at this stage of the campaign. We would suggest going with the home team winning and also with them covering a 1.5-goal handicap. Over the last few years, Liverpool has been very confident against the Eagles.
