Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Manchester City vs. Bayern Munich at UCL
The two top favorites for winning the European title have to clash already in the quarterfinals. Matchup between City and Bayern is, without any doubt, the derby of the round, so we have to make a preview of it. Both teams are goal-scoring machines, relentless when attacking, and eager to squeeze the life out of their rivals. Bayern changed the head coach during the international break, and Tuchel didn’t have time to adjust and prepare. Meanwhile, everything is fine with the Citizens and Guardiola, who don’t have such turbulences in their relationship.
Manchester City
Erling Haaland missed some of the Citizens’ games, but the Norwegian monster will be ready for Tuesday’s event. We don’t need to mention his impact on City’s performance, as Haaland had one of the most impressive debut seasons in Premiership history.
Prior to last weekend’s meeting against Leicester, the Citizens had 11 events in a row without a loss, and at home, that stretch reached 13 appearances. Man City had nine victories at Etihad, and in seven of them, we saw them scoring three or more times.
Guardiola targeted the form well. Man City didn’t play with 100% of its power until one month ago, but once they began, the results immediately exploded.
Bayern Munich
Tuchel opened his stint in Munich with a massive victory over his former club, Borussia Dortmund. At one point, Bayern was up 4-0, yet the Millionaires managed to score twice in the late phase of the game and ease up the defeat.
Though, the German manager suffered a hard slap in the face against Freiburg in the DFB Pokal, 1-2, bringing some negative energy among the fans, who weren’t thrilled with Nagelsmann’s departure and the moment of the same.
Bayern’s events on the road have been efficient lately, with only one since February that hadn’t seen three or more hits. Also, it needs to be mentioned that the Bundesliga champs lost in Monchengladbach and Leverkusen before the international break, showing that things aren’t idyllic in Munich.
Manchester City: Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Dias, Ake; Bernardo, Rodri, De Bruyne; Foden, Haaland, Grealish
Bayern Munich: Sommer; Cancelo, Upamecano, De Ligt, Davies; Kimmich, Gravenberch; Gnabry, Musiala, Mane; Choupo-Moting
Manchester City was better than Bayern last summer in a club friendly with 1-0. Haaland was the only scorer in this one.
Even though we expect to see Bayern a bit more defensive-minded than usual, because of Tuchel’s style of play, this should be a high-scoring affair. The offensive potential on both ends is enormous, and that’s why we take over 2.5 goals as the safest pick here.
Our verdict: Over 2.5 goals
