Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Manchester City vs. Brighton at English Premier League
City had enough time to regroup and to pull themselves togehter. After losing to Forest on the road, the still-reigning EPL champions now host in-form Brighton. The Seagulls are in fantastic form beating any rival that stands in their way and Fabian Hürzeler’s boys are coming to town for another scalp.
Manchester City
City was defeated in Nottingham and that complicates their plans for this season. Even though EPL will give five teams to the next Champions League edition, the Citizens aren’t safe anymore because Newcastle, Brighton, Bournemouth, and Aston Villa aim to reach the elite continental competition.
That said, this game will be of huge importance because it won’t be worth three points, yet double, as you meet the direct rivals for that fifth place.
City’s home games are extremely efficient, and seven of the last eight have seen over 3.5 goals. However, compared to previous seasons, Guardiola’s machinery isn’t always winning.
Brighton
Brighton has six wins in a row, and the Seagulls are looking exquisite. They have again started to play openly and offensively, pressuring and beating the rivals through hard and relentless attacks. So, it’s no wonder why this team netted at least twice in all of their recent victories.
Young manager Hürzeler made a team in which everyone could score. They have three guys with seven or more goals in the Premiership – Joao Pedro, Danny Welbeck and Kaoru Mitoma.
Brighton lost only once on the road in the previous nine outings. Apart from that, they had five victories in the last six road contests, with them beating United at Trafford and eliminating Newcastle from the FA Cup at St. James’ Park.
Manchester City: Ederson; Lewis, Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol; Gonzalez, Kovacic; Savinho, Marmoush, Doku; Haaland
Brighton: Verbruggen; Hinshelwood, Van Hecke, Webster, Estupinan; Baleba, Ayari; Minteh, Pedro, Mitoma; Welbec
Brighton won the first clash this year. It was 2-1 for the Seagulls at the Amex Stadium with the scorers for the hosts being Joao Pedro and O’Riley, while Haaland netted for the guests, who took the lead in the first half.
But when looking at the games only at the Etihad, City has eight wins in a row, with them keeping a clean sheet on five ocassions.
City is with its back against the wall, and they have nothing to wait for or calculate. Guardiola’s guys have to be aggressive and attack right away. Brighton is on fire, and they won’t back down, that’s for sure. Because of all this, we pick over 3.5 goals in this one and expect fireworks at Etihad. For those who want less risk go with over 1.5 second HT.
Our verdict: Over 3.5 goals
