Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Manchester City vs. Manchester at English Premier League
Manchester Derby comes at a very difficult time for both teams. The Citizens are in chaos, shredded with injuries, and have deep, deep problems. On the other hand, United recently switched the manager and lost last week at home to Nottingham. Plus, both sides played international games during the week.
Manchester City
The Citizens played 2-2 at Selhurst Park last weekend, extending their crisis. Over the previous nine games, Man City recorded only one victory, with six losses, and two ties.
Since Pep Guardiola became manager and took over the wheel at the Etihad, this is by far the worst stretch Citizens have experienced. However, we can’t blame everything on the players and their manager because City experienced an enormous number of injuries.
Rodri, the best player in the world, is out, as are Kovacic and Foden. And we aren’t mentioning all of those who were sidelined for a week or two. Kevin de Bruyne also had health issues, which affected his form and, therefore, City’s results.
Manchester United
After seven matches without a loss, the Red Devils suffered back-to-back defeats. The first was against Arsenal on the road, 2-0, and the second, vs. Nottingham at home this weekend, 2-3.
It was a shocker for the fans who didn’t see this coming, partially because of the new manager and the fact that they had solid results in the previous few weeks.
But there’s one thing that frustrates United’s fans—poor road results. Believe it or not, the Red Devils have won only once away from home since the year began. We saw Man Utd lose four times and post five ties, which is, let’s say, pretty bad.
Manchester City: Ortega; Walker, Dias, Akanji, Gvardiol; De Bruyne, Gundogan, Grealish; Savinho, Haaland, Doku
Manchester United: Onana; Yoro, De Ligt, Martinez; Diallo, Casemiro, Mainoo, Dalot; Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund
In 194 official Manchester Derbies, United won 79 times, City 61, and we saw 54 ties. Regarding the recent matches, we saw one this year, in the Charity Shield in August, when City triumphed after penalties. It was 1-1 after 90 minutes of play.
This might be the turning point for both teams this season. A win or a loss in this match can significantly affect morale and mindset, and both Guardiola and Amorim know that. We don’t expect to see fireworks and high efficiency, yet a moderate one, which would be two or three goals. There’s too much at stake, and neither side wants to rush into anything.
Our verdict: 2 or 3 goals
