Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Manchester United vs. Arsenal at English Premier League
United’s agony still lasts, while Arsenal has plenty of problems of its own. We have two desperate teams coming, one against the other in prime time, and this promises good fun. At least, we’ll see a fierce battle because both teams are with their backs against the wall.
Manchester United
The last in the line of this year’s humiliations took place at Trafford on Sunday afternoon. United was eliminated from the FA Cup by Fulham, who advanced to the next stage following a penalty shootout.
The Red Devils were down a goal before leveling to 1 all and unable to deliver another score until the final whistle. This was the fourth time over the course of six matches that Ruben Amorim’s boys failed to win.
As usual, the defense was terrible, with them allowing at least a goal in each of the past five events. Now, to make this even worse, United didn’t post a clean sheet in the previous 10 consecutive contests at home. Yes, you have read that right.
Arsenal
The Gunners can’t get a grip on the situation because they don’t have a single striker ready to play. All of them are injured. Therefore, it’s not strange to see them failing to score in three of the previous four contests.
After losing to West Ham at home 0-1 the Gunners went to Nottingham and took a point following a goalless tie. Though, we need to say that despite Forest’s good form, this isn’t a satisfying result for Arsenal, who is now only six points apart from getting out of the top-four zone.
Five of the previous six events Gunners played on the road ended with low efficiency, meaning 2 or 3 goals. This is also a consequence of their issues with strikers.
Manchester United: Onana; Yoro, De Ligt, Maguire; Mazraoui, Ugarte, Casemiro, Dalot; Garnacho, Fernandes; Zirkzee
Arsenal: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Nwaneri, Merino, Trossard
United and Arsenal met twice this year, both times in London. The first match was the EPL fixture, 2-0 for Arsenal, while the second was a part of the FA Cup, which saw United eliminating the Gunners, 1-1 after 90 minutes, with Man Utd’s triumph following penalties.
This game will definitely see more cards than goals, we don’t doubt that. Even though United’s home games usually bring plenty of goals, Arsenal’s dull and ultra-conservative approach will make this event inefficient. Arteta has to slow down the pace and hope for a rival’s mistake. That’s why we pick under 2.5 goals.
Our verdict: Under 2.5 goals
