Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Manchester United vs. Glasgow Rangers at Club Friendlies
New year, old habits. United opened the test period with a loss to Rosenborg, and even though they didn’t have all of the players at their disposal, from what we saw, Erik Ten Hag keeps pushing his agenda, which didn’t show well in the past. The Gers want to win some trophies and erase the frustrating previous season. They’ve endured some changes throughout the summer, but United didn’t excite anyone in the first test match against Ajax.
Manchester United
Ten Hag had several first-team players against Rosenborg, like Rashford, Casemiro, Mount, Evans, and Wan Bissaka. And that didn’t make too big of a difference on the field. Yes, Rosenburg is in perfect shape, with them deep into the Norwegian championship, but that can’t justify Manchester’s poor performance.
We are sure that the board won’t be patient with the Dutch manager anymore, so he needs to improve team’s performance and results quickly.
Many hope to see the new signing Zirkzee in action, though that’s not very likely. He’s still catching his breath after Euro 2024, so don’t expect too much here. Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo are out due to England’s long run at the tournament.
Glasgow Rangers
Meanwhile, over in Glasgow, Rangers have been making moves of their own. John Lundstram and Borna Barisic both left on free transfers, but the team’s been busy beefing up the squad. New faces like Mohamed Diomande, Hamza Igamane, and Jefte have joined the ranks, all for a pretty penny. And we are sure this isn’t the end of the transfer window at Ibrox.
Even though they had some solid stretches and runs last season, it was obvious that the team couldn’t compete with Celtic, who beat them fair and square in the most important games of the year.
The Gers played one match in the test period and lost it. It was against Ajax, 2-1, and the overall impression was that the Lancers outperformed the rivals in all aspects of the game and fully deserved the win.
Manchester United: Vitek; Wan-Bissaka, Fish, Evans, Murray; Casemiro, Mount, Williams, Mejbri; Rahsford, Wheatley
Glasgow Rangers: Butland, Sterling, Goldson, Davies, Jefte; Raskin, Diomande; Dowll, Lawrence, Matondo; Dessers
Fourteen years have passed since these two units last met. They faced one another in the 2010 UEFA Champions League groups. After a goalless tie at Old Trafford, United won in Glasgow, 0-1.
Both teams didn’t play well in their first pre-season appearances, and to be honest, we don’t think they will improve too much in this event. Knowing Ten Hag, he’ll combine and mix the lineup, which would be enough to see a moderate efficiency, 2 or 3 goals.
Our verdict: Moderate efficiency, 2 or 3 goals
