Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Napoli vs. Inter Milan at Serie A
This just might be the game that decides the Serie A champions. Inter took over the top spot in the standings, with Napoli being behind one point and experiencing terrible form. Antonio Conte and the boys simply can’t get a grip on things anymore, and this will probably be their last chance to make things right and get back on the winning path.
Napoli
The team from Naples is in a serious crisis, with them failing to win in the previous four games and losing the most recent following three ties. It was on the road against Como, 2-1, and that result allowed Inter to get back to the top of the Serie A.
What can we say about Napoli’s recent performances? For a start, the defense is underachieving and creating plenty of problems. In the previous six meetings, they allowed at least one goal, though all of them ended with both teams netting.
While the attack produces chances, it’s noticeable that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s departure created problems and that without the pacey forward this team has problems in transition and when it comes to finishing.
Inter Milan
Inter, too, had a turbulent period, yet Nerazzurri has managed to navigate through it well and use Napoli’s slips to benefit. We can’t say that they played like their upcoming rivals because Inter seemed better overall, but the Serie A champs have shown visible signs of struggle.
Simone Inzaghi’s unit did defeat Genoa 1-0 last weekend, but they looked sluggish and not that confident. Losing to Juventus 1-0 the week before showed that they have problems of their own and that, sometimes, their defense isn’t as strong as it should be.
However, Inter’s attack is ruthless, and with 59 goals scored, they and Atalanta lead the way in Serie A.
Napoli: Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Buongiorno; Politano, Anguissa, Lobotka, McTominay, Spinazzola; Raspadori, Lukaku
Inter Milan: J. Martinez; Bisseck, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Zielinski, Dimarco; L. Martinez, Taremi
The first game of the year ended without winners, 1-1. It was the third event in a row between these units, which ended with under 2.5 hits. Believe it or not, over the past seven clashes in Naples, the home team has just one win.
Napoli has to be aggressive here, and one point won’t mean too much for Conte’s crew. Though, they can’t afford to lose either. Inter comes to Maradona to lay back and keep that one point, preferably scoring on a break. We pick a moderate efficiency here, that would be 2 or 3 goals as the final pick, as it looks the most realistic given all the circumstances.
Our verdict: 2 or 3 goals
