Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Netherlands vs. Scotland at International Friendlies
The Dutch side faces Scotland in the friendly international match this Friday night. The two teams decided to have a very tough test during this international break, warming up for the upcoming EURO 2024, which takes place in Germany this summer. Oranje is the favorite, but that doesn’t mean Scotland won’t fight to make a sensation.
Netherlands
The Dutch unit has three wins in a row, five in the past six appearances, with the sole loss coming at the hands of the French national team who was victorious in the Netherlands, 1-2 back in October.
Oranje didn’t have too much success on home soil against big teams, as they lost both final four UEFA Nations League games, one to Croatia 2-4 and the other to Italy in a third-place meeting 2-3, which raised some doubts about this crew and its elite status.
However, the squad has an enormous amount of talent, and even though it doesn’t include some mega stars like in the past, the Netherlands is still one of the best units on the continent.
Scotland
The Scottish unit advanced to Germany, finishing second in their group behind Spain. However, we must add that the Tartan Army managed to secure its EURO 2024 ticket because of a strong start to the qualifiers, which eventually evaporated as time passed.
They are currently without a win for the last five events, with the note that Scotland had three losses in a row and back-to-back ties in the previous two rounds of the group stage, one in Georgia, 2-2, and the other at home vs. Norway, 3-3.
Four of the last five games Scotland played away from home ended with three or more goals, and in the same number of games, they couldn’t keep a clean sheet. So, it is safe to say that the Tartan Army isn’t playing very well on the road.
Netherlands: Flekken; De Vrij, Van Dijk, Blind; Dumfries, Reijnders, Koopmeiners, Wijnaldum; Simons, Weghorst, Gakpo
Scotland: Gordon; Hendry, McKenna, Tierney; Patterson, Gilmour, McTominay, Robertson; McGinn, Christie; Dykes
In 2021, these nations had a friendly international clash, and we saw no winners because it ended 2-2. Prior to that, in 2017, there was another friendly, but this time Netherlands was better than Scotland in Glasgow, 0-1.
As stated, Scotland isn’t playing particularly confidently away from home, while Oranje performs much better on its own soil than usual. All this suggests they shouldn’t have any problems beating the guests from the British islands. That’s why we pick the Netherlands to triumph here.
Our verdict: Netherlands win
