Excerpt: Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Novak Djokovic vs. Cameron Norrie at Wimbledon
Novak Djokovic and Cameron Norrie will square off in the first Wimbledon men’s semifinals at the All England Club this year. The six-time champion came to London to win his fourth consecutive trophy and to erase all the “injustice” from the previous part of the season. On the other side, Norrie is on the rise, playing well this year, and combined with the fact that he has euphoric home support, he is doing just fine throughout the tournament.
Djokovic
Novak had a major test in the quarterfinals once he fell back 0-2 to Jannick Sinner. However, we once again saw the Joker coming back from behind, making a remarkable burst, winning three sets in a row before dispatching the Italian star.
This was Novak’s 26th consecutive win on the grass and just a few notice that. Needless to remind everyone that he won the previous three tournaments here, with the note that the one in 2020 didn’t occur due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Novak was perfect in only two of his games in London, while losing a set against Tim van Rijthoven and Kwon Soon-woo, which was in the opening round. We can say that he isn’t displaying the dominant tennis like in the past, but that the Serb is still arguably the best grass player on tour right now.
Norrie
The 26-year-old is having a breakthrough year in his career. He is currently 12th in the ATP rankings and has won two of his four singles titles since the start of the year in Derlei Beach and Lyon. Overall, the improvement he made was solid, and that’s why he had such a strong rise in the rankings.
Norrie eliminated Pablo Andujar, Jaume Andujar, Steve Johnson, Tommy Paul, and David Goffin. His latest match against the Belgian veteran saw five sets, and he too had to come back like Novak, only he was behind 1-2.
Norrie wasn’t quite confident against the player whose specialty is clay surface, and in general, he didn’t have any of the harder rivals in his way until this point. Truth to be told, his path to the semis was by far the easiest of all four players here. He faced only one seeded player, which was Paul, who was no. 30.
These two guys played only once before, and in that event, Djokovic came out as the winner. It was at the last year’s Nitto ATP Finals in Italy, and Novak simply rolled over the Brit, beating him in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
Djokovic is a better player not only on the grass but overall. We also want to emphasize that Norrie’s serve isn’t quite impressive throughout the tournament, which will only make things much easier for Novak if the Brit doesn’t improve it. So, in general, Novak should win here without some particular problems.
Our verdict: Djokovic Wins
