Novak Djokovic vs Nick Kyrgios Prediction

Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Novak Djokovic vs Nick Kyrgios at Wimbledon 2022

  • Where: All England Club, London, England
  • When: Sunday, July 10, 2 pm local time

The clash between Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios will decide the champion of this year’s Wimbledon edition. Novak is after his seventh victory at the All England Club, while Kyrgios has never reached the Grand Slam finals up to this point. These two guys share a long history, mostly very disruptive, which is normal when Kyrgios is involved, but the Aussie was the only one who supported Novak during his problems with Australia’s government early this season. Yet, that won’t mean anything on Sunday afternoon.

Novak Djokovic vs. Nick Kyrgios Preview

Djokovic

Novak is one of the greatest players ever, and as time goes by, he is bidding to take over Roger Federer’s status at Wimbledon. The Serb played solid tennis in the previous rounds, but we need to say that he didn’t dominate as in the past few years.

However, his comeback against Sinner in the quarter and Norrie in the semis are the best possible display of his quality and current form. Even though Novak allowed three breaks in the opening sequence, that didn’t affect him at all.

The first serve was a problem, with one-third of the shots going down the drain, but on the other side, his movement and hits from the baseline are good. Despite being 35 years, he still possesses great stamina.

Kyrgios

Had an easy task in the quarterfinals eliminating Garin in straight sets, and after that, directly going to the finals because of Rafael Nadal’s withdrawal. Some suggest that this is a good thing for him because of more time for resting, others are saying that such a long pause might disturb his rhythm.

Nick’s serve has been vital for all the success at Wimbledon, and those 130+mph rockets he fires constantly give him an edge over other rivals, who simply don’t have a solution for that aspect of the game.

Though, what is problematic for Kyrgios is his mental instability and the fact that he always delivers massive oscillations. You simply can’t see him providing decent tennis for too long. And given the current circumstances, this will be by far the biggest test of his maturity so far.

Novak Djokovic vs Nick Kyrgios Head to Head

Djokovic and Kyrgios met twice, and surprisingly, the Australian player leads 2-0 in direct meetings. Furthermore, back in 2017, when they clashed in Acapulco and Indian Wells, Kyrgios didn’t lose a single set.

Novak Djokovic vs. Nick Kyrgios Prediction

For us, despite what many believe, Novak is in a better position solely due to his mental shape. He was behind Sinner and Norrie, which didn’t bother Nole for a little bit. Meanwhile, Kyrgios always becomes self-destructive in situations when he feels disturbed, which is often enough. That is why we predict Novak’s win, probably in four sets. The Serb has more experience in these types of meetings, and that will be a massive advantage for him.

Our verdict: Djokovic wins
