Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois 2 at UHWC
The rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois will give us an answer on who is the undisputed boxing heavyweight champion of the world. We saw these two guys battle two years ago when Usyk more or less easily defeated Dubois, inflicting his second career loss at the time. Things have changed a lot, and we expect a different matchup now.
Oleksandr Usyk
Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) beat Tyson Fury twice last year. If the battle in May was close, the second one in December wasn’t even near. The Ukrainian shut down the Gypsy King, showing that he is a better fighter, and that he adapted much better after the first fight than the Irish rival.
This was the 23rd victory for Usyk, who now has four title defenses in this category. After beating Joshua and claiming the throne, he once again defeated the Brit, and after that, KOd Dubois before cementing his place on the throne with back-to-back triumphs over Fury.
Usyk is fast and quick, and his technique is by far the best of all the heavyweights. However, the Ukrainian isn’t a true heavyweight, as he came to the division from the cruiserweight category, where he was ultra-dominant. But apart from all this, Usyk’s main edge is his intelligence and his fighting IQ, which hasn’t been seen in a long time.
Daniel Dubois
Dubois (22-2, 21KOs) bounced back following a 9th-round KO against Usyk with three KO wins in a row. The first was four months later, against Jarrell Miller, whom he knocked out in the 10th round. He then faced Filip Hrgovic, winning via 8th-round TKO to claim the IBF interim title.
Following these triumphs came the biggest one yet, vs. Anthony Joshua. Dubois stunned the former champion with a 5th-round knockout to defend the title and buy the ticket for another clash with Usyk.
It’s definite that Dubois made a step forward and that he finally began thinking properly while boxing. On top of that, he became a bit bigger and matured, becoming a force in the ring. The one thing we aren’t so sure is whether he has enough experience to attack Usyk now. The win against Joshua is very impressive, yet we have to know that AJ is on a downhill.
Usuk beat Dubois in Wroclav in August 2023. It was a one-sided domination, with the champion at the time quickly exposing the rival and beginning to exploit his flaws. Eventually, Usyk, who isn’t some big-time hard hitter, took down Dubious, and the bout stopped in the 9th round.
Usyk is now older, but at 38, he still looks good. We know that his stamina and pace are fantastic, yet many still question his athleticism, especially against Dubois, who is 11 years younger. On the other hand, we do respect the Brit who did reach some good results lately, yet his rivals were all one or even two classes below the elite. And that’s the only reason why we give Usyk an edge here. He will win this one via decision.
Our verdict: Usyk via decision
