Right now, Poland and Argentina hold the two places that lead to the knockout stage. But they aren’t cemented, and we could easily see one of these two teams falling down below the line, so they have to win, or at least stay unbeaten to hope to reach the round of 16. Poland has one point more, yet that doesn’t have such a significant impact on the game plan on either side. Simply, a positive result here is a must.

After displaying a terrible performance against Mexico, the Polish team posted a big win over Saudi Arabia, 1-0, jumping to the top spot of Group C. For the moment, they are the group leaders, which is a surprise for many. 

This is maybe the crown game of the entire generation, with several players, among them Lewandowski, probably won’t play at the next World Cup, and we understood that the Poles have a unique motive to give everything they have.

Poland isn’t a team with creativity or some playmaking talent, but Lewandowski is upfront, simplifying the situation for them. The defense is very hard and rigid, and that’s why this unit didn’t allow a goal in the past four games, while the previous six all ended with under 2.5 scores.

Argentina

The footages of the Gauchos celebrating in the locker room following the game against Mexico suggest that the Argentinian team created a massive swing before this battle. They need to beat Poland to be safe for the knockout stage, and avoid any calculations etc. 

We saw a difficult win over the Sombreros, but we need to say that Argentina performed better. Still, their game isn’t at the expected level, and by that, we mean a complete absence of creativity in the midfield, with an accent on Rodrigo De Paul’s horrible performances. We still don’t know why this guy plays. 

The Argentinians didn’t allow a goal in eight of the past 10 games, while on the other end, they had multiple scores in seven events throughout that stretch.
