The Madrid derby in the middle of Saudi Arabia sounds promising. This isn’t the first time that the Spanish Super Cup has taken place in this region, and each time, we have seen interesting and exciting matchups. Real is in excellent shape ahead of this event, while Atletico looks shaky and unstable, as if its form is on a downhill.

The Los Blancos were routine against Mallorca, winning 1-0, not spending too much of their energy ahead of the Super Cup semis, and doing just enough to take down the rivals. This was the fourth win in a row for Ancelotti’s crew, and the 19th event overall in which they haven’t lost.

Real’s game is near perfect, with Jude Bellingham leading the way in the midfield. The Englishman is orchestrating the game like a veteran, and of right now, we can say that he looks like the best player of the unit by far. 

The defense is also playing at a high level, recording six clean sheets in the previous ten events, which is superb given the fact that Real had UCL contests well and that they sometimes mixed the lineups.

Atletico Madrid

The Mattress Makers had a very exciting meeting in Girona, which they lost to the hosts, 4-3, with a late stunner. It was a heartbreaking defeat for Simeone’s unit, which had its chances to reach the lead in the late phase of the event and completely flip the result as they experienced a 3-1 deficit at one point. 

Atletico has three wins and defeats each, with one tie in the past seven events. During this time, we’ve seen them posting only two clean sheets and playing pretty chaotic football despite defeating several teams.

We’ve already stated before that, unlike in the past, this team is much more aggressive and open-minded, so it’s normal to see them allowing goals more frequently and their games ending with three or more hits.
