Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Sevilla vs. Arsenal at UEFA Champions League
The battle for the top two spots in Group B of the UEFA Champions League appears to be much more interesting than anyone thought. The game in Spain could have a significant impact on the final order, because both teams have to win it. Arsenal has three points in two events, while the Spanish unit has two.
Sevilla
The Spanish crew had two ties in the opening two events of this competition. After 1-1 against Lens at home, they went to Eindhoven, where we saw fireworks in the final moments of the game, 2-2.
The Rojoblancos had everything in their hands, leading twice and even responding to the hosts’ late push. In the end, PSV netted in the fifth minute of the stoppage time, leveling the score and denying the guests from getting back home with all three points.
Sevilla both scores and allows goals, with five of the past six matches this year ending with such an outcome. Their past two contests at Pizjuan saw high efficiency, that is over 3.5 hits.
Arsenal
The Gunners bounced back following a loss to Lens on the road, 2-1, with a win over Manchester City at home. That was an extremely important situation for Arteta and his crew, as they showed a fighting mentality, which wasn’t the case in the previous years.
The game in France against Lens saw them taking the lead, but it also saw severe mistakes in the back line. Overall, Arsenal’s defense has been playing well, having back-to-back clean sheets before that meeting and one afterward against City.
The Gunners are coming off an exhausting game against Chelsea, but that simply won’t be an alibi in case they fail to defeat Sevilla.
Sevilla: Nyland; Navas, Bade, Ramos, Pedrosa; Rakitic, Sow; Ocampos, Suso, Lukebakio; En-Nesyri
Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Rice, Partey; Saka, Nketiah, Martinelli
The most recent meeting was before the start of the previous campaign when Arsenal hosted the Rojoblancos at the Emirates Cup. They hammered the Spaniards back then, beating them 6-0, showing everyone their talent.
Five years earlier, there was one more Emirates Cup clash, only then Sevilla won, 1-2.
Sevilla’s defense is inconsistent and, in our opinion, much weaker than, for instance, Lens’. Meanwhile, their offense is dangerous, but when we look at the overall picture, Arsenal still has a better unit. We respect Sevilla, but we will go with the guests whose attack is at a different level and whose defense has the power to stop Rojoblancos. We also expect to see plenty of goals, but the primary pick is Arsenal to win.
Our verdict: Both teams scoring
