Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Turkey vs. Portugal at EURO 2024
Turkey won the opening match in the 20204 EURO, and so did Selecao. While the Crescent Stars didn’t have too many problems against Georgia, Portugal had to dig deep in order to win and secure three points. The Czech Republic gave them a hard time, yet Ronaldo and the boys posted a win. Whoever ends up with a victory here, would pretty much secure the top spot in this group.
Turkey
After five consecutive matches without a triumph, Turkey managed to snap that cold streak. And may we add that Stefan Kuntz’s boys did that in the most important moment, opening the door to the knockout stage of the 2024 EURO.
Young Arda Guler showed his incredible potential, and we say that not just because of his magnificent goal but also because of his overall performance. Real once again snatched a diamond which will, with a little luck, shine for many years to come.
Georgia isn’t a high-class rival, but the Turks’ win here can’t and won’t be diminished because they didn’t slow down for a single moment, even when Georgia cut the lead.
Portugal
The way Portugal started the game made us believe they were going to win without any problems. Still following a goalless first half, we saw a shocker early in the second when the Czechs took the lead.
Several minutes later, Selecao leveled, and from that moment on, it was all about them. Ronaldo and the guys attacked, created chances, missed them and some goals were disallowed also. In the end, Chico Conceicao netted a dagger in the second minute of overtime to bring three points to his team.
Ronaldo was agile, Leao as well. Milan’s player was maybe the best on the field, as he constantly created difference on his side. We saw Selecao dictating the pace and trying to score, constantly trying the break the rival’s defense.
Turkey: Gunok; Ayhan, Demiral, Bardakci, Kadioglu; Ozcan, Calhanoglu; Guler, Yildiz, Akturkoglu; Yilmaz
Portugal: Costa; Cancelo, Pepe, Dias, Mendes; Palhinha, Vitinha, Fernandes; Leao, Ronaldo, Bernardo
Portugal met with Turkey at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Selecao was routine back then, winning 3-1 and advancing from the group stage. They have had four wins in the past five meetings, while Turkey has only had one.
The Turks are aggressive and pretty motivated, but that sometimes isn’t a key factor in one victory. Portugal’s strength is way greater, so we have to bet on their victory in this event. We also believe that Turkey’s defense simply isn’t capable of restraining Leao, Ronaldo, and the boys because it is a bit slower than they are.
Our verdict: Portugal wins
