Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Ukraine vs. Belgium at EURO 2024
Things are intense in Group E of the 2024 EURO championship, with all four teams having three points. Therefore, each is in the race for the knockout stage with one game to go. Due to a better goal difference, Romania holds the top spot for the moment, while Belgium sits second, Slovakia third, and Ukraine last.
Ukraine
Following a terrible start to the championship, the Ukrainian unit managed to bounce and defeat Slovakia in a more or less dominant style, 2-1. However, that 3-0 defeat to Romania has left them at the bottom of the standings with slightly worse prospects for the knockout stage than other rivals.
They have everything in their own hands now, even though the rivals are the toughest possible. We’ve seen Ukraine playing well in recent times against strong units, so there is reason for hope.
A defeat to Romania was too high, and even though it sounds stupid, we haven’t seen the Romanians outplay Shevchenko’s crew. Two goals were from outside the box after lucky shots, and that, in fact, sealed the game.
Belgium
We really don’t know what to say about Romelu Lukaku. With all the misses and VAR cancelations, it seems that he is cursed or something. The strong forward also failed to score against Romania, and we don’t know how long his drought will last.
Yet other players were in the mood for netting, and Belgium managed to notch its first triumph in the competition. The Devils’ opening goal promised a confident win, but for various reasons, that didn’t happen. One of them is Lukaku.
Belgium’s efficiency is at a very satisfying level. In four of the previous five appearances, this unit managed to score two or more goals despite the ineffectiveness of its leading striker. This only proves the Devil’s power and strength.
Ukraine: Trubin; Tymchyk, Zabarnyi, Matvienko, Mykolenko; Sudakov, Zinchenko, Shaparenko; Yarmolenko, Dovbyk, Mudryk
Belgium: Casteels; Castagne, Faes, Vertonghen, Theate; Tielemans, Onana; Doku, De Bruyne, Trossard; Lukaku
It was hard to believe that Ukraine and Belgium have never met before. This will be their first official game.
Ukraine has an offensive-minded unit, and they like to attack regardless of their rivals. We’ve seen that throughout recent history. Their speed allows them to be very aggressive in transition and to pressure rivals from counter-attacks. Belgium will be sharp and oriented on attack because that’s their style over the last ten or so years. Therefore, we will pick over 2.5 goals for this event as the best pick.
Our verdict: Over 2.5 goal
