The United States hosts Copa America, which will include the entire Americas, not only the South American states. They have high hopes for this competition and consider it one of the final tests before the 2026 World Cup. On the other hand, the Bolivian unit hasn’t got anywhere near the same ambitions but is coming to the States to battle and give their best.

Now, the two games the USA played before the start of the Copa America both ended with Gregg Berhalter’s unit failing to win. For some time, there has been a debate in US soccer circles about whether Berhalter has the knowledge to lead the national team.

At first, the Yanks were smashed by Colombia, 1-5, and in the second meeting, against Brazil, they got away with a 1-1 tie. The latter match surely improved the overall impression and recovered the morale of the players, yet overall, there aren’t too many who are satisfied with the team’s performances.

The defense is the problematic part of the unit, allowing at least a goal in four of the last five appearances. Though, we can’t say that the offense is particulary effective either. Strikers are still searching for the right rhythm, as well as the entire front line.

Bolivia

The Bolivians are in an even deeper hole, having lost four of the last five matches, all of them friendly internationals. Their sole victory was over poor Andora, and even that was just 1-0. As for defeats, they came at the hands of Algeria, Mexico, Ecuador and Colombia.

The defense is the most vulnerable line on the team. Why? For starters, it allowed three goals in three of the team’s last four losses. The offense is problematic, too, as it failed to score in six of the previous ten appearances.

In general, this is a very modest team, with plenty of issues on the field and without a notable individual who could lead it. All of their successes have happened at home, where they have an edge due to severe weather conditions.
