Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Wales vs. England | Group Stage, World Cup Qatar 2022
Wales and England close the Group B contests with a direct clash in the third round. Wales has only theoretical chances of reaching the knockout stage, and in order to do so, they need to beat England by four goals or have some other incredible developments. As for the English side, they are first in the group, not impressing anyone, but doing the job correctly.
Wales
The Dragons are maybe the biggest disappointment at the World Cup so far. They haven’t shown anything, and it seems that they had a lot of luck reaching here, especially because of the entire situation with Ukraine, whom they met in the playoffs.
Bale, Ramsey, and the boys haven’t shown anything apart from a brief sequence against the US team in the opening round, and even back then, they couldn’t score from the game but had to convert a penalty.
It’s nothing new when we say that Dragons have problems with creativity and play dull and straightforward football without versatility. Bale is way past his peak, and the players in the back line are limited, so that’s it from this unit.
England
The Three Lions play equally dull and boring football, but they hold the top spot in the group and there can’t be any remarks about the results. Though, Southgate’s crew used all the bad things that happened to Iran to stuff their net and kick off the World Cup furiously.
However, what we saw against the USA isn’t very reassuring, and the fans are concerned about whether that was just a temporary slowdown or the real picture of the English unit.
The game against the Americans might be the worst in the entire World Cup. Why? Well simply, we haven’t seen anything worth mentioning, with the two sides keeping a draw and one point, not even wanting to take the initiative.
Wales: Ward; Mepham, Rodon, Davies; Roberts, Ramsey, Ampadu, Williams; James, Bale; Moore
England: Pickford; Trippier, Stones, Maguire, Shaw; Rice, Bellingham; Saka, Mount, Sterling; Kane
The Dragons are without a victory against England in official games after the Second World War. In the past six events, the Three Lions won on each occasion, with the most recent clash in 2020, a friendly international, when England trashed the neighbors 3-0.
Prior to that event, we saw these two teams meet at the 2016 EURO when England also won; only the result was 2-1.
We don’t expect anything but another slow and tactical game here, because England won’t be keen to open up, while on the other side, Wales can’t do anything because they lack quality. That’s why we expect low efficiency on Tuesday afternoon.
Our Verdict: Under 2.5 goals
