Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for the Arsenal vs. Manchester United at Premier League match.
Arsenal and Manchester United open the Premiership’s Saturday program. Once upon a time, the clashes between these two sides decided the titles, yet now, both the Gunners and the Red Devils are far away from winning the trophies. Their main goal is to reach fourth place, the last one which leads to the UEFA Champions League. For the moment, Arsenal is in a better position, due to a game in hand, but they need to win this clash to keep on the pace with Tottenham. When it comes to winning three points, United, too, doesn’t have any other option, and a win is imperative for Rangnick’s squad.
Arsenal
The Gunners are in awful shape, as they recently posted three losses in a row in the English Premier League, destroying everything good done in the near past. Arteta’s unit was knocked out against Crystal Palace at Selhurst, where the Eagles won 3-0.
We saw Arsenal’s terrible performance back then because the hosts did what they wanted on the pitch. After that came losses to Brighton at home and Southampton at St. Mary’s, and those were the ultimate proofs of Arsenal’s sharp decline in form.
In four of the past five games at Emirates, the Gunners conceded, and as you can see, the defense has been the problem for Arteta in the last few weeks. What happened, we aren’t so sure, but it could have some ties with Partey’s and Tierney’s injuries.
Manchester United
Another humiliation for the Red Devils’ fans happened last Tuesday, once their favorites suffered a hard defeat at Anfield. Their biggest rivals, Liverpool, triumphed 4-0, rolling over United’s defense once more and confirming the domination in head-to-head matchups. By the way, for those who can’t remember, the first meeting between these two sides saw Liverpool triumphing 0-5 at Trafford.
Over the past ten games across all the competitions, the Red Devils have only three wins, and in the past five, just one. The situation is even worse when looking at the away games, as United lost the last three, scoring just one goal while allowing nine on the other side.
Like with the Gunners, Manchester’s biggest problem is the defense, and they have been struggling with the same since the season began. It appears that Harry Maguire isn’t the caliber of player everyone believed he was.
Arsenal: Ramsdale; Cedric, White, Gabriel, Tavares; Xhaka, Lokonga; Saka, Odegaard, Smith Rowe; Martinelli
Manchester United: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles; Matic, Pogba; Elanga, Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo
The first meeting of the year saw the Red Devils winning at home, 3-2. Arsenal took the lead through Smith-Rowe, but Fernandes leveled just before the halftime. After that, Ronaldo scored shortly into the second period, but Odegaard immediately responded two minutes after that.
Ronaldo solved the game from the penalty spot in the 70th minute.
This will be a tough and cautious game because of the high stakes. Though, we need to say that at some point, both teams will have to open and attack. Our pick here would be for both teams to score due to the terrible form of the respective defenses.
Our verdict: Both teams to score
