Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Croatia vs. Belgium | Group Stage, World Cup Qatar 2022
Croatia and Belgium meet in the last round of the World Cup, and their clash will decide which of these two teams continues its adventure in Qatar. For the moment, Croatia is atop the group with four points, the same as Morocco, while Belgium has three points. The situation is clear, the Devils need to win here, while Croatia is in a position to reach the Round of 16 with a draw. The fans and the experts agree that this is the game of the day, and as such, it needs to be covered.
Croatia
After a sluggish start against Tunisia and a goalless draw, the Croats opened the game against Canada even worse, allowing a goal in the second minute of the event. Though, the Croats showed mentality and their experience, flipping the situation already until halftime.
The second 45 minutes were a routine for the runners-up from the previous World Cup. Two more goals packed in Canada’s net, along with a routine approach, showed that Croatia is still one of the best teams in the world.
This was the eighth consecutive event for Croatia in which they haven’t lost, winning six throughout that span and posting two draws. Five of those games were with under 2.5 goals.
Belgium
One of the top candidates for the World Cup title before the start of the tournament showed practically nothing. On top of that, the chemistry in the locker room seems ruined, with all sorts of comments issued by the players, most notably De Bruyne’s remarks about the team “being old.”
Belgium was trashed against Morocco, unable to create one decent attack nor control the tempo and pace of the game. Eden Hazard is mediocre, and Batshuayi was the least, to say, ridiculous. He’s maybe the main reason why this team isn’t more dangerous in the offense.
The Devils have been on the decline for the last year or so. This game will either prove that or create a chance for them to redeem themselves for all the bad things from the past.
Croatia: Livakovic; Juranovic, Lovren, Gvardiol, Sosa; Modric, Brozovic, Kovacic; Kramaric, Livaja, Perisic
Belgium: Courtois; Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Dendoncker; Meunier, Onana, Witsel, T. Hazard; De Bruyne, Trossard; Lukaku
The last game between these two teams was last summer, a friendly one before the start of the EURO, and the Belgians won back then, 1-0.
The swing is on the Croatian side, while Belgium has nothing to lose, and that’s why we expect to see an open and energetic matchup. Our 2.5 goals are our first choice because there is no room for the Belgians to calculate.
Our verdict: Over 2.5 goals
