Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Scotland vs. Norway at Euro Qualifications
Scotland secured its place in EURO 2024, and they want to pay off their fans for fantastic support over the past 12 months. They will have Haaland and Norway across the pitch, who come to Glasgow with a massive motive as they chase the playoffs and one of the final three spots in Germany. That’s why we decided to cover this meeting in the first place.
Scotland
The Tartan Army started the qualifiers pretty furiously, and eventually, they managed to keep the high intensity and pace until the end, thus securing the spot in Germany.
Though, we need to say that Scotland’s recent performances didn’t look like those from several months ago. The unit suffered three consecutive losses. Two were in friendly games, against England at home, 1-3, and in France, 1-4. The meeting vs. Spain on the road in EURO qualifiers saw a 2-0 flop.
To be perfectly straight, this team doesn’t have too much creativity in the midfield, and they are all about physical power and stamina. Sometimes, that is enough to pull out a surprise, but in most cases, a bit better teams are handling that without any problems.
Norway
The Scandinavians are in a position in which they need to attack and go after all three points. The rankings for the playoffs are still active, and that’s the only way Stale Solbakken’s crew can reach Germany.
Norway had an excellent stretch of games until the loss to Spain 0-1, posting four triumphs in a row. It all started against Cyprus, whom they beat twice during the mentioned stretch, and then they defeated Jordan and Georgia, netting 15 goals in total, which is impressive, no matter the rivals’ strength.
Haaland will be the biggest problem for the opponents’ defenses, but he won’t have Martin Odegaard, who withdrew from the squad due to his injury problems. That’s a big problem for Solbakken.
Scotland: Gunn; Porteous, Hendry, Cooper; Hickey, Gilmour, McGregor, Robertson; McTominay, McGinn; Adams
Norway: Nyland; Ryerson, Ajer, Ostigard, Meling; Odegaard, Berge, Aursnes; Sorloth, Haaland, Nusa
Norway and Scotland had an exciting first meeting when Scotland got away with all three points from Oslo, 1-2. Norway took the lead, but the Scots responded in the finish blitzing the rivals through Dykes and McLean, who scored in the span of two minutes.
Even though the Scots don’t have to push, they will be 100% focused on beating the rivals because that is their mentality, especially at home. Norway is without Odegaard, but without options, and they too, need to attack. So, the logical choice is to bet on three or more goals.
Our verdict: Over 2.5 goals
