Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Newcastle vs. Manchester City at English Premier League
The Magpies will host the reigning English and European champions, Manchester City, this Saturday afternoon. Newcastle is experiencing plenty of problems and, for the moment, sits in the middle of the standings, away from any title talks. Also, the Magpies are far away from the top-four zone, which leads to the UCL, and that’s another blow for Eddie Howe’s crew. As for the Citizens, they are slowly catching the desired pace, accelerating for the second part of the campaign.
Newcastle
The Magpies simply crashed in late November, and since then, Eddie Howe’s boys haven’t been able to restore either their morale or their form. The reason is unknown, though we are pretty sure that playing on several fronts caught up with the team from St. James’ Park. Neither they nor Howe have the experience for such a challenge.
Before beating Sunderland in the FA Cup, Newcastle had four losses in a row, seven in eight rounds. They were eliminated from the English Football League Cup and the UEFA Champions League during that stretch despite having everything in their hands.
A big problem for Howe is the defense, with only two losses seeing Newcastle concede fewer than two goals. Plus, they have suffered a defeat against all the top rivals.
Manchester City
The last defeat City experienced was against Aston Villa in early December, and after that, they played eight events without a failure. In seven, we’ve seen them coming out as the winner, while only one ended with a tie, vs. Crystal Palace, 2-2.
As time went by, the defense became stronger, so it is not strange to see them allowing just one hit in the previous six appearances. They ended the Club World Cup tournament with seven scored and none allowed goals.
Meanwhile, the offense is always at a high level, netting twice in each clash during their unbeaten streak. The majority of those meetings were without Haaland, just to add.
Newcastle United: Dubravka; Livramento, Lascelles, Schar, Burn; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Almiron, Isak, Hall
Manchester City: Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Rodri, Kovacic; Bernardo, Foden, Grealish; Alvarez

There were two direct encounters this season between the Magpies and the Citizens. In the first one, which was the EPL game at the Etihad, the hosts won 1-0, while the second in the EFL Cup, at St. James’ Newcastle, responded, winning with the same result.
Newcastle is in a tough spot, with low morale and form. Manchester City, on the other side, is on the rise, playing very good football and posting excellent results, so despite this one being a derby, we will pick the guests to triumph.
Our verdict: Manchester City wins
