Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Liverpool vs. Atalanta at Europa League
The Reds have slipped in the domestic championship against United and now have to find a way to bounce back. The game against Atalanta comes only a few days after the draw at Trafford, meaning that Klopp and the brigade don’t have too much time for lament. Meanwhile, La Dea had a good run until the international break and now goes to Anfield following back-to-back losses.
Liverpool
A 2-2 tie at Trafford is a big hit on Liverpool’s morale. They didn’t deserve to lose this event, but it appears that United has luck against the Reds this year. The latest two matches in which Liverpool didn’t win were both against United, one being in the FA Cup.
However, the good news for Klopp and the fans is that Liverpool hasn’t lost at home since this season began. In the previous ten meetings, we’ve seen them triumph nine times and post one tie, but with plenty of goals allowed. Just one meeting during that span was with Liverpool posting a clean sheet.
Of course, all those nine contests were with over 2.5 goals, the majority with four or more hits. Overall, there haven’t been many games at Anfield in which Liverpool didn’t score at least three goals.
Atalanta
So, La Dea just began playing well, posting some solid results before crashing over the past several days. Atalanta was better than Sporting in the Round of 16, 2-1, eliminating the rivals from Portugal, before beating Napoli on the road, 0-3, showing its full potential.
However, we saw them score just one goal in the two matches that followed. First, Fiorentina defeated them 2-0 before a 2-1 loss to Cagliari. Both of these events were on the road.
In general, Atalanta performs poorly on the road these days, winning just one match in the previous seven outings. Both teams to score have been seen in seven of the latest ten outings, while over 2.5 goals took place in six contests.
Liverpool: Kelleher; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai; Elliot, Nunez, Gakpo
Atalanta: Carnesecchi; Djimsiti, Hien, Kolasinac; Zappacosta, Ederson, De Roon, Ruggeri; Koopmeiners, Pasalic; Scamacca
Liverpool and Atalanta played in the 2020 Champions League group stage, with the Reds winning 0-5 in Bergamo and La Dea getting even at Anfield 0-2.
Liverpool is a massive favorite here, and they have a much better team than Atalanta, regardless of the lineup that shows on Anfield’s turf on Thursday night. We expect to see them trash Atalanta by at least a two-goal margin.
Our verdict: Liverpool wins
