Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Inter Milan vs. Barcelona at UEFA Champions League
We saw a classic in Barcelona last Wednesday, with two teams netting three goals, setting up a perfect intro before the climax in Milan. Barcelona dominated, and Inter scored goals. In short, the opinions about the final result here are divided. One says Barcelona deserved to win, and the other says that Inter did its job perfectly.
Inter Milan
Nerazzurri was rational and precise, and in the end, when Barca opened, they had a chance to win this one. Like all the Italian teams, they defended throughout the entire team and scored goals. In the final phase of the event, counter-attacks could have brought them triumph, but fortune wasn’t on their side.
Marcus Thuram was unstoppable, and his return completely changed how Inter looked. The Milan team opened the game with a score in the first minute, and scored the other two goals afterwards when Barca attacked the most.
What’s interesting is that Inter hasn’t won in the recent five matches, losing three (all in Italian competitions) and having two ties in the Champions League. In all these events, the Nerazzurri defense allowed at least one goal.
Barcelona
We can say that Barca had no luck against Inter in the opening game. Simply, the hosts attacked, yet on the other hand, they conceded goals very easily, sometimes even unfortunately.
Hansi Flick’s unit was all over the rivals in the finish, which could have cost them due to overexposure. No matter how much they attacked, Inter’s net stayed still. The reason for that may be Robert Lewandowski’s absence. The Pole probably won’t play in the rematch as well.
However, we need to say that even without him, Barca’s attack delivers. It scored three goals in three of the past four meetings, which indicates high efficiency.
Inter Milan: Sommer; Bisseck, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Martinez, Thuram
Barcelona: Szczesny; Kounde, Arajuo, Martinez, Martin; De Jong, Pedri; Yamal, Olmo, Raphinha; Torres
As stated, the first leg ended 3-3. Before that, we saw the same result in 2022 also in Barca, but Inter won the one at home, 1-0. Four of the past five direct meetings between these teams saw both teams netting and over 2.5 goals.
Inter scored goals just like in Munich when the opposite team attacked. Plus, they opened the game well. Overall, Barca was one level above them in terms of overall performance. We do respect Nerazzurri, yet, Barcelona is simply better. That’s why we bet on Blaugrana to advance to the next stage. Inter’s form is questionable, and even though Thuram got back, we simply don’t believe in Inzaghi’s unit.
Our verdict: Barcelona to advance
