Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for AC Milan vs. Tottenham at UCL.
AC Milan is in terrible shape coming into the UEFA Champions League knockout stage, but on the other side, Tottenham isn’t impressive either. This is the battle of two wounded units, and a loss could completely destroy their respective seasons. But just as same, the winners could experience a huge morale boost, after which they could turn the campaign for the better. Some twelve years ago, these clubs met in the UCL elimination stage, and the Spurs were better. Will history repeat itself now? Stay tuned and see.
AC Milan
Rossoneri finally won after seven consecutive events where they couldn’t beat the rivals. They posted a victory in the first game since the World Cup, and after that, they had two draws and a loss in between before suffering four defeats in a row.
Milan was unable to score in three of those four successive failures. On the other side, the rivals netted 13 times, with the defense of Stefano Pioli’s crew disappearing.
Olivier Giroud scored the game-winner on Friday night at San Siro, when Milan won 1-0 against Torino. It was a sluggish performance of the hosts, who eventually won, but, overall, played a highly dull and impotent event.
Tottenham
The Spurs are better and come to Italy after three triumphs, but they too, aren’t confident and stable at all. What is the reason for that, we don’t know, but the impression surrounding this club is that it underachieved throughout the current campaign.
Antonio Conte praised his defense after last week’s win over Manchester City, 1-0. It was the third clean sheet in a row for Tottenham, who beat Fulham on the road, 0-1, then Preston also away from home, 0-3, only in the FA Cup, before a big victory over the Citizens.
The efficiency of Tottenham’s away games is high, with six of eight outings seeing at least three goals. The same number of contests saw the Spurs scoring at least twice.
AC Milan: Maignan; Kalulu, Kjaer, Tomori; Calabria, Tonali, Krunic, Hernandez; Diaz, Giroud, Leao
Tottenham Hotspur: Forster; Sanchez, Dier, Davies; Emerson, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Perisic; Kulusevski, Kane, Son
The last game between these teams was in 2018 at the ICC, and Tottenham won 1-0. Previously, they’ve faced at the same stage of the UCL back in 2011, when Tottenham eliminated Milan. After 0-1 at San Siro, we saw a goalless draw in London.
The hosts are terrible, and a win against Torino is just, in our opinion, a short burst. The Spurs aren’t in some fantastic form, but they still look better than the Italians. Overall, we have to bet on Tottenham’s win because it has great value.
Our verdict: Tottenham wins
