European international football is back, as Italy host Belgium at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. This game starts their 2026/27 UEFA Nations League campaign, which will unfold over the next few weeks. Italy didn’t participate in the recent World Cup in the United States, while Belgium didn’t do much to stand out. It is a fresh start for both sides, who are desperate for some notable success.

Roberto Mancini called up many new names because he needs to overhaul the whole system. Many of them play outside Serie A and are unknown to the domestic public. From what we saw, the roster is packed with forwards, and it’s possible that Mancini wants to change something in that part of the team.

Belgium

The Belgians are also beginning a new chapter. Their football association has hired the famous Dutch midfielder, Mark Van Bommel, as the new head coach, hoping to squeeze something out of the veterans who carry this team – Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku.

Though we need to say that the Devils did rejuvenate their team. Most players are under 26 and have yet to reach their prime. De Ketelaere, Openda, Diego Moreira, De Winter- all these guys are playing in top teams and have huge talent.
