Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Arsenal vs. Chelsea at English Premier League
The big London derby is always interesting and exciting. Yet this event has much more at stake than reputation. If Arsenal loses, we can say their title hopes are over and that the battle for the Champions League begins. Meanwhile, Chelsea is in need of three points in order to stay in the zone which leads to the most prominent European football competition.
Arsenal
Apart from smashing PSV on the road 1-7 two weeks ago, we can’t really say that the Gunners play decent football. They are without a win in the EPL for the past three events, and not taking three points in this one would be a disaster.
Problems with injured strikers are tearing apart the chemistry on the field, and it’s obvious that Arteta can’t cover up all those absent players up front. After failing to score against West Ham and Nottingham, Arsenal finally found the back of the rival’s net at Trafford, where they played 1-1 vs. Man Utd.
Five wins, three defeats and two ties at home are a sign that the Gunners aren’t profiting much from playing in front of their own fans. And that’s something that gives hope to the Blues.
Chelsea
Chelsea’s form is still shaky and mediocre. That’s a fact, even though the Blues managed to beat Leicester this Sunday and record two wins prior to that contest. Leicester was a tough nut to crack, and 1-0 in the end perfectly displays the developments on the field.
Now, about that event. Cole Palmer missed the penalty shot, his first this year, and that’s one more proof that things aren’t going in the desired direction for the Blues.
Since Nicolas Jackson isn’t playing, Enzo Maresca’s crew experiences troubles on the field. They don’t have the finisher but not only that. Jackson was the guy who created plenty of space for all other players and was, in fact, a playmaker up front despite not having the ball in his feet.
Arsenal: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Nwaneri, Merino, Trossard
Chelsea: Sanchez; Gusto, Tosin, Colwill, Cucurella; James, Enzo, Caicedo; Neto, Palmer, Nkunku
The first game of the season ended without winners. It was 1-1 at Stamford Bridge. Martinelli and Neto were the scorers.
What is interesting is that Arsenal hasn’t lost to Chelsea since 2021 and that the streak has reached up to seven straight matches now. During this stretch, we saw the Gunners triumphing on five occasions.
Knowing Arsenal’s problems with injured strikers, we don’t expect too many goals. Why? Arteta will use ultra-conservative tactics, and with shaky Chelsea on the other side, the space for some action will be narrowed. Our pick will be a moderate efficiency – 2 or 3 goals.
Our verdict: 2 or 3 goals
