The Gunners host Liverpool once again shortly following their FA Cup event in which the Reds won and eliminated their big rivals. The stakes in this battle are also high, with the potential title at the table. Liverpool is leading the way, with the Gunners slightly behind, but the Reds don’t have the credit to waste points because they feel the heat coming from Manchester City, who stalks them, waiting for a mistake.

The Gunners do look a bit shaky and unstable lately. Despite their big win over Crystal Palace a few days ago, 5-0, they still haven’t convinced anyone that the crisis is over. 

We’ve seen them losing too often around the New Year and against a bit tougher teams, like West Ham, Fulham, and Liverpool. They also had another clash with the Reds, only at Anfield, which was a Premier League event, which saw a 1-1 draw. Arsenal has one other loss against the top-four rivals, Aston Villa, 1-0 in early December.

The efficiency of the Gunners’ games significantly dropped, and the win against Palace was the first event in which we saw over 2.5 goals following four consecutive meetings.

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp announced his withdrawal from Liverpool’s bench at the end of the year. This is either true or maybe a trick with the purpose of motivating the entire club and the fanbase to push even harder in this title race. Nevertheless, the situation at Anfield suddenly became turbulent. 

Liverpool is still first in the standings but has to find a way to win all three points at the Emirates. They won’t have Salah, who picked up an injury at the AFCON, which was a big bow for both the Reds and Egypt. 

Before this week’s meeting against Chelsea, Liverpool had 10 games ina row without a loss. Their form is on the rise, and even though Salah isn’t playing, the Reds didn’t lose too much of its fluidity and sharpness upfornt.
