Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Arsenal vs. West Ham at English Premier League
Arsenal and West Ham square off in their first post-World Cup EPL game at the Etihad next Monday. Things will be tough for both units, with the Gunners losing Gabriel Jesus for a long time due to his injury at the World Cup. Meanwhile, West Ham is in a difficult situation as well, with them sitting barely over the relegation zone. The Hammers are one of the biggest disappointments this year, and they need a radical change to start going up.
Arsenal
The thing with the Gunners now is adaptation. They quickly need to find a formula to adjust to playing without Jesus, who was the most influential guy on the field in every Arsenal game. He scored five goals and had five assists so far, but be sure that his movement on the pitch, along with playmaking abilities, provided much more than those ten hits.
Martinelli and Saka will need to take a much larger share of obligations under current circumstances, and that’s going to be a big test for these two youngsters.
Mikel Arteta didn’t want to lose any time with the World Cup going on, and Arsenal had four friendly games during the tournament. They lost to Watford and Juve and, in between, defeated Lyon and Arsenal.
West Ham
Had three friendly events, winning two and having one draw, but they didn’t suffer a defeat during this streak. Though, the rivals weren’t anywhere close to those Arsenal had. Cambridge United was the first challenge, 4-2, then Udinese, 3-1, and the latest game was against Fulham, 1-1.
It was a good test for the Hammers, whose Premier League performances have been terrible since the start of the campaign. Right now, they have three losses in a row, plus West Ham suffered elimination from the Carabao Cup. If it is of any consolation for the Hammers’ fans, at least West Ham pushes well in the UEFA Conference League.
Five of their last six games on the road, counting all the competitions, were with under 2.5 goals, and the same number of events were with only one side netting.
Arsenal: Ramsdale; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Partey, Xhaka; Martinelli, Odegaard, Vieira; Nketiah
West Ham United: Fabianski; Coufal, Dawson, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Soucek, Lanzini, Fornals; Benrahma, Scamacca, Bowen
The Gunners didn’t lose in the past six games against West Ham, winning five of those contests. They scored at least two in five of those games. Arsenal was better than West Ham in the previous meeting at the Etihad, 2-0.
This is a very important game for the hosts, who lost to Juve, and don’t have Jesus anymore. It will be fatal for Arteta and the boys to lose the advantage over Man City early on, especially against a team that has struggled to deliver since the campaign began. That’s why we simply have to go with the Gunners’ win.
Our verdict: Arsenal wins
