Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Aston Villa vs. Manchester City at English Premier League
Will this be the end of the road for City’s title ambitions? They already fell behind Liverpool way too much, and a loss here could mean that Guardiola’s unit already said farewell to the title. Aston Villa had a solid start, but as the season went by, they began to oscillate and show plenty of weaknesses.
Aston Villa
The Villains are sixth in the EPL standings, having a point fewer than City and, surprisingly, a negative goal difference, 24 scored and 25 allowed goals.
After winning three in a row, Villa lost to Nottingham Forest on the road, 2-1, despite leading until the late phase of the event. Unai Emery’s boys allowed goals in the 87th and 93rd minute to squander the lead and lose all points.
Four of the previous five meetings Villa played ended with over 2.5 goals. The defense has been pretty problematic for the Spanish manager because this crew posted only two clean sheets in the previous 10 contests.
Manchester City
We have no words to explain what’s happening with the Citizens. They are in one of the worst crises in the new era, and by far the biggest one since Guardiola signed for them.
In the last ten matches, City lost seven times, posting two draws and having one victory. In all of the defeats, Guardiola’s backline allowed two goals. Overall, this team has conceded in all but one event during this span, clearly showing that City’s defense has horrendous issues.
The most recent loss in the Manchester Derby 1-2, which came in the stoppage time, is another hard kick in the teeth for the still-reigning champs. We wonder how badly damaged is the morale of this crew at the moment.
Aston Villa: Martinez; Cash, Carlos, Torres, Maatsen; Onana, Tielemans; Philogene, Rogers, McGinn; Duran
Manchester City: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Gvardiol, Nunes; De Bruyne, Kovacic; Silva, Foden, Nunes; Haaland
Villa and City met twice last season, and both hosts won their matchups. It was 1-0 for Villa at Villa Park and 4-1 at the Etihad for City.
Prior to Aston Villa’s victory at home, they had gone 16 straight matches without a win. The vast majority of those matches ended with the Citizens’ victory.
Villa’s performances until the loss to Forest were more or less ok. But they, too, have issues in defense, which will allow the City to be constantly dangerous. Meanwhile, the guests are in pretty bad form, and we don’t need to talk about their problems in all lines. After all the analysis, our pick here would be to see both teams scoring over 2.5 goals.
Our verdict: BTTS & Over 2.5 goals
