Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Borussia Dortmund vs. Manchester City at UEFA Champions League
Dortmund and Manchester City will battle for the top spot of Group G on Tuesday night. For the moment, the team from Manchester has three points more, and a win in the opening clash, and they need to stay unbeaten here to keep the pole position before the start of the knockout round. Both teams posted wins on Saturday and now come to Signal Iduna Park intending to keep the positive rhythm.
Borussia Dortmund
The Millionaires trashed Stuttgart on Saturday, beating the big rivals 5-0 in possibly their best performance since the campaign started. Borussia was excellent, without a single mistake throughout all 90 minutes, reminding of some times in the previous seasons when they challenged Bayern in the title race.
This was their second triumph in a row, as they also routed Hannover in the German Cup, 0-2. The Millionaires are much better at home than on the road, and so far this year, Dortmund played eight games at Signal-Iduna, losing just one.
Edin Terzic’s crew has five victories in front of its fans; all of them were without a goal allowed, which suggests that Borussia has a solid defense as well.
Manchester City
Guardiola’s unit had a brief slip, playing without goals in Copenhagen and then losing at Anfield to Liverpool, 0-1. Yet, Erling Haaland and the rest of the crew recovered very quickly, beating Brighton 3-1. The Norwegian sensation already has 17 goals this year, which is terrific.
His City won seven of the past 10 games, adding two draws and one defeat throughout that span. Seven of those matches were with over 2.5 goals, and interestingly, those were all City’s victories.
Though, the Citizens haven’t won the past two events on the road, and have only three victories in eight outings this year. The EPL champs had plenty of draws, and just one defeat, but overall, they haven’t been victorious frequently.
Borussia Dortmund: Kobel; Meunier, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Guerreiro; Bellingham, Ozcan; Adeyemi, Brandt, Malen; Modeste
Manchester City: Ederson, Cancelo, Akanji, Dias, Ake; De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo; Foden, Haaland, Grealish
Borussia had a lead in the first meeting this year, but they didn’t have enough gas for the last 15 minutes of the game. In the end, City came back to win 2-1, with Haaland delivering the final blow to his former team.
These teams played last year in the UCL as well, and City won in both events, 2-1.
This game smells of high efficiency, and anything less than three goals here is a big surprise for us. The odds might not be as high as many would want, but the risk is pretty low.
Our verdict: Over 2.5 goals
