Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Borussia Dortmund vs. RB Leipzig at Bundesliga
Two of the title contenders square off in the opening game of Bundesliga matchday 23. Borussia is currently atop the standings, while Leipzig has only four points fewer and wants to move up toward the biggest success in the history of this club. Things are pretty interesting in Germany, and after a while, we have a year in which Bayern isn’t that dominant.
Borussia Dortmund
The Millionaires have been fantastic since the restart of the championship. Right now, they are riding a nine-game winning streak across all the competitions, with seven of those victories coming in the Bundesliga.
The most recent was in Hoffenheim, where they defeated the hosts with a minimal result, 0-1, though, missing plenty of fantastic chances for scoring in both halves. This was the third time in the previous four that the Millionaires managed to keep a clean sheet.
Edin Terzic’s team is extremely confident at home, where they have four wins after the World Cup, three with four or more hits in the rival’s net, all of them in the Bundesliga. Besides those, Borussia posted a victory in the Champions League over Chelsea, 1-0.
RB Leipzig
Unlike Borussia, the Bulls have had a few slips since the start of January, but they are still at the top of the standings. If it weren’t for them, the team from Leipzig would for sure sit first in the German football championship.
Five wins, three draws, and a loss to Union Berlin at home, 1-2, is the record of this crew. That defeat against the direct rival in the title battle came after RB’s 1-0 lead, making it even more painful. But even with all these mistakes, the Bulls are still in a position to grab the trophy.
Over the past two road trips, RB didn’t allow a single goal, playing 0-0 in Koln and, after that, trashing Wolfsburg 0-3. The first meeting away from Leipzig following the World Cup was in Gelsenkirchen, where the Bulls humiliated Schalke 1-6.
Borussia Dortmund: Kobel; Ryerson, Sule, Schlotterbeck, Guerreiro; Can, Bellingham; Brandt, Reus, Bynoe-Gittens; Haller
RB Leipzig: Blaswich; Klostermann, Orban, Gvardiol, Raum; Laimer, Schlager; Szoboszlai, Forsberg, Werner; Nkunku
RB rolled over Borussia in the year’s opening meeting, 3-0, and before that, had back-to-back victories during the previous season, 1-4 at Signal Iduna and 2-1 at home. Seven of the past eight events were with over 2.5 goals.
Borussia is aggressive and very good at scoring at home, while on the other side, RB will be highly motivated to beat the Millionaires and sit at the top of the standings. Both teams scoring here is the top pick after our assessment, and that’s what we recommend.
Our verdict: Both teams scoring
