Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid at La Liga
On This Page
The Madrid Derby takes place this Sunday, as the last La Liga fixture of the round. These two teams had Champions League matches during midweek, though, that won’t be an alibi for a poor result in this event. We can say that Real has more at stake here, because Los Blancos still chase Barcelona, who are four points away from them. On the other hand, Atletico is third in La Liga standings, and pretty much safe when it comes to the UEFA Champions League spot next season.

Real Madrid
Los Blancos have 9 wins and only one defeat at home in the past 10 games. They are back in the rhythm when it comes to performances at Santiago, and that’s good news ahead of the season finish.
In all 9 victories, this team scored at least two goals, and when we add that Kylian Mbappe should be back for this event, things are looking even better for the most decorated team in the world.
The games at Bernabeu are usually efficient, with 7 of the past 10 ending with three or more goals. But as we said, it’s due to Real’s excellent efficiency, and over the last two appearances, we saw them netting 7 goals, three against City and four last weekend vs. Elche.
Atletico Madrid
Another season for Atletico, another calm and relaxing campaign in which they were bound to be third. Diego Simeone’s unit is now completely focused on the Champions League and Copa del Rey, as they can’t change anything drastically in the La Liga standings.
But don’t think for one second that Simeone and the boys won’t go 100% into this event, as they dislike Real more than any other team in the world, especially the Argentinian head coach.
After two flashy performances against Real Sociedad (3-2) and Tottenham (5-2), they had a quiet, dull performance against Getafe, beating the rivals just 1-0. It was a typical Atletico/Simeone performance.
Real Madrid: Courtois; Alexander-Arnold, Huijsen, Rudiger, Garcia; Valverde, Tchouameni, Camavinga, Guler; Mbappe, Vinicius Jr
Atletico Madrid: Musso; Pubill, Le Normand, Hancko, Ruggeri; Simeone, Llorente, Cardoso, Lookman; Griezmann, Alvarez
Real beat Atletico Madrid in the Super Cup, 1-2, but before that, we saw Atletico beat Los Blancos in the first La Liga matchup of the year, 5-2. By the way, only one of the last 10 games didn’t include both teams’ netting.
Atletico won’t open up, but wait for the home team, which has to be offensive. We are sure that Simeone wants to slow down the game, make the hosts nervous, and eventually exploit a mistake as time goes on. Though Real is very strong at home, we still expect the hosts to come out on top after 90 minutes.
Our verdict: Real Madrid
