Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Brazil vs Switzerland | Group Stage, World Cup Qatar 2022
Brazil and Switzerland know one another from the previous World Cup in Russia when these two sides also met in the group stage. It is interesting that in two meetings at the World Cups, Brazil didn’t beat the Swiss unit, but we’ll talk about that later. These two sides have three points each, with the Brazilians beating Serbia and Switzerland defeating Cameroon. They might go for one point, as many think, but on the other end, Brazil came to win this competition, and the calculations are off in their case.
Brazil
A win over Serbia is the eighth consecutive for Tite and his crew. And it is the sixth throughout that stretch with a clean sheet, while on the other side, only one didn’t see two or more goals during that span. Six were with Selecao netting three times.
All the lines in their team were working perfectly, and there wasn’t a single problematic situation for Selecao during the opening game against the Serbs. What might be a problem is Neymar’s ankle which looked pretty swollen, and according to some sources, PSG’s player won’t be ready for this game.
Richarlison scored a brace, proving that he is back in shape, and the second goal is, for the moment, the best in the tournament.
Switzerland
The Swiss side won against Cameroon, 1-0, but we need to say that they didn’t deserve to win. Apart from that one chance they converted, we haven’t seen anything from Murat Yakin’s team. They had a lot of luck, with Cameroon missing a few excellent chances, and overall, the African team dictated the tempo in this game.
Switzerland is a bit slower in the back, and that could be a problem in this contest, but we believe that Yakin prepares defensive-minded tactics for this event, because he doesn’t need to go for all three points but take just one.
This team plays low-efficient games, and four of the past six were with two goals at most.
Brazil: Alisson; Danilo, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Sandro; Casemiro, Paqueta; Raphinha; Jesus, Vinicius Jr; Richarlison
Switzerland: Sommer; Rodriguez, Akanji, Elvedi, Widmer; Xhaka, Freuler; Shaqiri, Sow, Vargas; Embolo
The last World Cup saw these two countries play 1-1, while in 1950, they played 2-2. In the meantime, Brazil beat Switzerland 2-1 in 2006 in a friendly game, and seven years later, the Swiss team avenged, 1-0, also in a friendly match.
The slow back line of the Swiss crew will be a significant opportunity for Vinicius and Raphinha, and these guys have what it takes to exploit that advantage and earn Brazil another three points. Even if Switzerland has a defensive-minded game plan, the outcome will be the same.
Our pick: Brazil wins
