Carlos Alcaraz vs. Daniil Medvedev Predictions

Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Carlos Alcaraz vs. Daniil Medvedev at Wimbledon

  • Where: Wimbledon, London, England
  • When: Friday, July 14

The second semifinal pair at Wimbledon brings the matchup between Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev. It carries much more excitement than the one between Novak and Sinner because we have two guys who are already Grand Slam champions and firmly believe their place is in the finals. Alcaraz came to London as the top-seeded player in the world, while Daniil had a short slowdown after an explosive start of the year, and he wants to show everyone he isn’t just a one-time wonder.

Carlos Alcaraz vs. Daniil Medvedev Preview

Carlos Alcaraz

The 20-year-old had a wild summer, having won a couple of trophies and becoming the top favorite for taking Roland Garros, where he eventually learned what is like playing against Novak Djokovic. After that defeat, Alcaraz won Queens and came to Wimbledon thirsty for another title.

After beating Chardy and Muller in straight sets in the opening two rounds, he was better than Jarry and Berrettini in the following two events, dropping a set in each. Then came his battle with Holger Rune in the quarterfinals, which ended 3-0 for the Spaniard.

Alcaraz’s serve in London accumulated him only 35 aces, which isn’t that impressive, we need to say. But what is amazing is his return, with the Spanish prodigy having 40% of points won on the rival’s serve.

Daniil Medvedev

The Russian had one very unpleasant experience in the quarterfinals where he had to go toe-to-toe with the unseeded American Chris Eubanks and also, with the entire crowd. Though, instead of collapsing and becoming wild, which we saw so many times in the past, Medvedev kept his composure and went on to defeat the rival.

The Russian came back from a 1-2 deficit, silencing the crowd, and the main reason why he did it was the serve. Medvedev had 28 aces, with only five double faults and a 69% of first serve. He would win 79% of points on his first serve, and all this kept Medvedev in the game.

His path to the semis wasn’t that hard, but on the other side wasn’t that easy as well. After eliminating Fery in the first round, he beat Mannarino, then Martin Fuscovics 3-2, while Lehecka retired at 2-0 for Daniil.

Carlos Alcaraz vs. Daniil Medvedev Head to Head

These two guys met twice so far. One clash was here at Wimbledon back in 2021, in round 2, when Medvedev smashed young Alcaraz 3-0, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2. The latter was this year at Indian Wells, when Alcaraz routinely beat Medvedev in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Carlos Alcaraz vs. Daniil Medvedev Predictions

Both players have their chances here, and despite Alcaraz being the favorite and a considerable one according to the odds, we wouldn’t go with his victory here. Instead, our final pick would be to see between four and five sets because this isn’t going to end without a gruesome battle. The line for over/under games is set at 38.5, and this is a clear over for us.

Our verdict: Over 38.5 games
