Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Chelsea vs. Inter Milan at Club Friendlies
The final preparations for the new season are nearing their end, and Chelsea and Inter Milan decided to finalize their preseason period against one another in London. The Blues host the Italian champions following their comeback from the United States, where they didn’t impress. On the other hand, Inter’s test games haven’t involved big-time names like Chelsea’s, but that’s up to their management.
Chelsea
Enzo Maresca didn’t amaze anyone in his first few appearances as Chelsea’s manager. He lost all the games against European teams, beating only Club America 3-0 throughout the entire American tour.
The defense was terrible, and that’s because of his new system, which involves the goalkeeper practically in the area of the centre-back when organizing the game. So it’s no wonder Chelsea got blown by Celtic 1-4, Man City 2-4, and Real Madrid 2-1.
We don’t know whether he will implement all the tactical thoughts by the end of October because we are pretty sure that management won’t have the patience to wait any longer. Right now, Chelsea looks ridiculous.
Inter Milan
Nerazzurri had a quiet yet efficient summer. They played four friendlies, winning three and posting a tie, plus one against Al Ittihad, where they faced the first non-European team. Though, they haven’t been on tour like Chelsea, but rather created chemistry at home.
When we mentioned efficiency, we also considered the transfer moves. Inter lost some notable players (though they didn’t have big roles on the field), bringing low-profile names perfect for their rotation and needs—Mehdi Taremi, Josep Martinez, Piotr Zielinski, Carlos Agusto, etc.
Inter’s main weapon will still be a powerful and fluid midfield, which constantly pressures the rivals but defends well. The stamina of all the players in this area is incredible, and that’s how Inter imposes its own tempo on the field.
Chelsea: Sanchez; James, Badiashile, Colwill, Chilwell; Cucurella, Fernandez; Madueke, Palmer, Sterling; Nkunku
Inter Milan: Sommer; Pavard, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfires, Barella, Mkhitaryan, Augusto; Dimarco; Salcedo, Correa
Chelsea and Inter Milan met in a friendly international in 2018, and they played 1-1. The year before, Inter was better, 2-1.
Chelesa’s defense is appalling, and Maresca has to find a solution to how to cure it. There’s not too much time until the start of the Premiership, so he has to be quick. Regarding this event, Inter’s performances were solid, and they have a system that’s already working. Italians aren’t keen on playing friendlies, and we expect to see them a bit more relaxed, which should result in high efficiency, meaning at least three goals.
Our verdict: Over 2.5 goals
