The Eagles had a busy summer and have played nine friendly international games since the start of July. Viera wanted his team to have as many as possible tests, to see what to correct and, more importantly, how. After a shaky start, the Eagles have caught the rhythm, not losing the past four events, winning three, and playing one draw. 

The overall record they had was five wins, two draws, and two losses. Not the interesting thing is that in all the triumphs, Palace scored at least two goals. They would beat QPR 3-0 and Montpellier 4-2 in the latest two tests. 

Palace signed Cheick Doucoure and Chris Richards, and they are the only noticeable arrivals during the transfer window. Both have 22 years and are players mainly focused on the defense.

Arsenal

The Gunners made a lot of noise during summer, not only on the transfer market but on the field as well; after landing Gabriel Jesus and a couple of other players, they began demolishing all the rivals. It seems that the Brazilian was the missing piece for the Gunners to start blasting. Jesus improved the team by at least 50%. 

Arsenal had only one loss during the preseason period, to Brentford, 1-2, but that one wasn’t even a common friend but more of a training game. Arteta’s crew comes into this event following a 6-0 win over Seville at the Emirates Cup, in which they packed four goals during the opening 20 minutes. 

Also, beating Chelsea 4-0 on the US tour is a big deal, and overall, this team has been playing superbly, especially on the offensive side, where they have demolished every opponent so far.

The thing with the Gunners is that Jesus’ presence upfront opens space for all the midfielders and forwards, and it is no wonder why Arteta’s unit scored 25 goals in six friendly games this summer. He made Arsenal look pretty serious.
