The game between England and the United States is arguably the biggest this Friday. So it is no wonder it was left last to close the day as the grand finale. England comes into this event with three points and a confident win over Iran, while the Yanks have one point, won against Wales. They could win all three, but the slowdown in the second half was a present Wales didn’t want to refuse.

We will tell you one thing straight away. Despite winning 6-2 against Iran, England showed some simply unacceptable things at the World Cup. One is a slow release of the ball by some players like Grealish and Rashford, which needs to be changed. We are aware that the circumstances were favorable for the Three Lions, but still, they need to eliminate this. 

Overall, their game was superb, and the entire flow of the match went in their favor. Iranians opened the game terribly, which helped the English team a lot, so we can say that the clash against America will be their first test here in Qatar.

Expect to see Southgate sending a very pacey front line on the pitch, with Sterling and Foden, because they need to be aggressive in pressuring the US flanks and also, to have both ready for the transition. 

USA

The first 45 minutes showed all of the US qualities. Wales wasn’t able to breathe at some points, having to skip the midfield from the back line and target Bale and the forwards with long passes. Weah scored on Pulisich’s pin-point pass, and instead of continuing at the same pace, the Yanks stopped.

It was like some other team came out on the pitch in the second half, and the Dragons immediately recognized that, shifting the swing and taking control of the game. Pulisic was stopped, and the midfield was broken into pieces, which eventually led to 1-1 after 90 minutes. 

The USA has a solid team, fluid in all areas, but we need to admit that the offense lacks creativity, apart from Pulisic. They will be in problems breaking the English backline.
