Germans didn’t have to play the qualifiers so they had frequent friendly international games. The results were mixed, and even though there were some notable wins – twice over France, once against the Netherlands and the USA – we saw some pretty poor displays.

Japan smashed Germany on its own soil, 1-4, and Turkey also beat Die Mannschaft in its own house, 2-3. They also lost to Austria and Colombia, both with the same result, 2-0. So, in general, this unit has a solid number of flaws. And that especially goes for the back line.

The fact that Germany plays at home is a big plus for the unit, yet the recent results suggest that they shouldn’t relax too much. After all, EURO tournaments have always provided surprises, and in many cases, the victims were the hosts.

Scotland

The Tartan Army had a blasting start to the EURO qualifiers, which is why they reached Germany. If they had played like they have in the last few months, we are pretty sure that Scotland wouldn’t participate in the continental championship.

Until beating Gibraltar in a friendly international, 2-0, the Scots had not won in seven consecutive meetings. Five of them ended in losses, and two ended in ties. In all but one, they conceded at least two goals, most of the time even more.

Scots are limited when it comes to talent in the midfield but are physically very strong and aggressive. There aren’t too many players who ar creative, and that’s the biggest problem for this unit.
