Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Inter Milan vs. AC Milan at UEFA Champions League
Inter swept Milan in the first 15 minutes of their UEFA Champions League clash last Wednesday. We’ve seen Nerazzurri playing excellent football and completely outplaying their biggest rivals, who were, for some, favorites in this event. However, the fact that Rafael Leao didn’t play and that Inzaghi completely surprised Pioli with Mkhitaryan in the lineup caused Inter’s blaze in the first half. To be honest, Milan was lucky not to concede a few more goals in the first 45 minutes.
Inter Milan
We’ll see if Inzaghi leaves Mkhitaryan in the starting lineup or if he returns Marcelo Brozovic. His move before the first meeting was masterful, and it completely confused Milan, who couldn’t stop the Armenian. Not only did he score, but created numerous chances for Inter and missed a couple of them himself.
A 2-0 win over Milan was the third in a row for Nerazzurri at home, and the second during this span with at least two goals scored or clean sheets.
The team finally caught a positive groove, winning the past six contests, in each but one scoring twice or more. By the way, their three previous matches were without a goal conceded. Simone Inzaghi woke up this team, who also reached the Coppa Italia finals in the meantime and is doing well in the Serie A.
AC Milan
The collapse of this team came at the worst possible moment. AC Milan wasn’t confident for some time, posting inconsistent performances and posting several draws, some of them not earned. Eventually, all that came back at Rossoneri.
This was their first loss after nine consecutive events across all competitions without out, but they had only four wins throughout that interval. Last weekend’s victory over Lazio at home, 2-0, boosted the morale of the fans, creating a swing following back-to-back draws, but it didn’t help in the end.
Yet the only constant for the seven-time European champs is that the last nine games played all saw under 2.5 scores.
Inter Milan: Onana; Darmian, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Brozovic, Dimarco; Martinez, Dzeko
AC Milan: Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Kjaer, Hernandez; Tonali, Krunic; Diaz, Bennacer, Leao; Giroud
AC Milan was better in the first meeting of the year in August,3-2, but Inter won three times in a row after that. They beat Rossoneri in the Super Cup, 0-3, then lost in Serie A 1-0, before Wednesday’s failure.
Inter is experienced enough to keep this advantage. They will wait for Milan to open and then strike on counter-attacks, and we strongly believe Nerazzurri have enough power to beat the rivals once again. Simply they are in better form right now.
Our verdict: Inter wins
