Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Inter Milan vs. Barcelona at UEFA Champions League
Inter hosts Barcelona in Milan in the third round of the UEFA Champions League. These two sides are among the biggest in Europe, and it is now wondered why the fans across the globe want to see them clashing. Inter is in a terrible situation, showing pretty poor performances, while Barcelona sails according to the plan. Despite playing on the road, Blaugrana is a solid favorite at Meazza, which isn’t odds when seeing Inter’s recent results.
Inter Milan
Nerazzurri have back-to-back losses, the first against Udinese on the road, 3-1, and the more recent one, suffered this Saturday against AS Roma at home, 1-2. The latter was especially painful because Inter took the lead early but failed to keep it.
At the moment, Simone Inzaghi’s crew has two wins and four defeats in the recent six contests. Inter conceded two or more goals in each loss, and their defense had been exposed in all those encounters.
In five games at home this year, the three-time European champs have three wins and two defeats, with three events concluding with three or more goals. As said, Inter is in a pretty nasty situation, and the head coach Simone Inzaghi could be sacked anytime soon.
Barcelona
Unlike their rivals, Blaugrana’s current form is perfect. Apart from the defeat in Munich against Bayern, the Spanish powerhouse didn’t lose a single event since the campaign started. Nine competitive meetings across all competition, one draw, one loss, and seven wins is the current record of Xavi’s boys.
Six of Barca’s eight games were with three or more goals, and in the same number of events, they didn’t concede, showing not only great offensive capabilities but also high quality in the back line.
Barca played five road games this year and won four. As mentioned before, the only loss was against Bayern in Munich, 2-0, but even then, the Spaniards had plenty of chances to score in the 45 minutes. Of course, after failing to utilize their opportunities, the punishment from the other side came.
Inter Milan: Handanovic; Skriniar, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Asllani, Calhanoglu, Dimarco; Martinez, Dzeko
Barcelona: Ter Stegen; Roberto, Christensen, Garcia, Alba; Kessie, Busquets, Pedri; Dembele, Lewandowski, Raphinha
Inter and Barca met in the 2019 UEFA Champions League group stage. Barcelona was better in both legs, and the Spaniards won with the same result, 2-1.
Inter’s performances aren’t at the needed level for them to be competitive against the top continental teams. Nerazzurri struggle in defense and much weaker attacks than Barca’s have no problem beating Handanovic. That’s why we give the edge to the guests, who look much better, and whose attack should demolish Inter’s mediocre back line.
Our verdict: Barcelona wins
