Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Juventus vs. Roma at Serie A
Juventus and Roma meet on Saturday afternoon in what is the most interesting game in Europe this weekend. The Old Lady hosts Jose Mourinho and his team, in its first big test this season. On the other side, it is the first big challenge for Roma too. For the first time in the last several years, the fans have some hope and believe in the impossible. Mourinho ignited the entire fanbase, and Il Lupi came back on the big stage with a win in the UEFA Europa Conference finals.
Juventus
The Old Lady was disappointed in Geona against Sampdoria. The last game of the previous round ended without goals, and what is even more worrying for Juventus, there weren’t too many chances provided by their attackers and forwards.
Vlahovic was stopped, and the young Serb didn’t present any danger to Sampa’s back line. Many are questioning Massimiliano Allegri’s tactics and whether it is suitable for this squad. We guess that the answer or at least a part of the same could appear against Roma.
Juventus was better than Sassuolo on the season premiere, beating the guests 3-0, not giving them a chance to be competitive. The Old Lady played several games during the preseason against top teams and did not win a single one.
Roma
Two goals in the opening two games are Roma’s productivity, but Il Lupi still has six points. Mourinho’s tactics are usually efficient, even though they aren’t too attractive. After winning in Salerno in the first round, 0-1, Roma was better than Cremonese at home, 1-0.
We must say that the hosts dominated the field, but that the attack didn’t have composure in crucial situations. Instead of breaking Cremonese’s lock early on, they missed a couple of dead chances.
Including the preseason games against Tottenham and Shakhtar Donetsk, Roma didn’t allow a goal in four consecutive events, proving that Mourinho tightened up the defense. We need to add that his offense is creating chances and plays solid, but isn’t efficient that much now.
Juventus: Perin; Danilo, Bonucci, Bremer, Sandro; Locatelli, Zakaria, McKennie; Cuadrado, Vlahovic, Kostic
Roma: Patricio; Mancini, Smalling, Ibanez; Karsdorp, Matic, Pellegrini, Spinazzola; Dybala; Zaniolo, Abraham
Juve has three consecutive wins over Il Lupi. On both occasions last year, the Old Lady triumphed, 1-0 at home and 3-4 in Rome, following a spectacular event.
In Turin, Juventus is very confident, with nine wins in the last ten head-to-head games.
Both teams will be very careful coming into this event, and we do not expect too many goals. Why? Well, Mourinho won’t open and attack, that is for sure, while on the other side, Allegri won’t push too hard and risk some unpleasant result that would kill the team’s morale early on, and eventually put him under pressure even more. That’s why under 2.5 goals is the primary choice.
Our verdict: Under 2.5 goals.
