Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Leicester vs. Tottenham at English Premier League
The Foxes are back in the Premiership, and their opening game of this EPL campaign will be against the rivals from the 2016 title race, Tottenham. Hosts are fired up ahead of this matchup, as they want to show that the trip to the Championship was just a moment of weakness. Meanwhile, the Spurs’ ambitions aren’t clear. Last year, they were in title talks for a while, then they battled to reach the UEFA Champions League; in the end, they ended up in the UEFA Europa League.
Leicester
The Foxes started the preseason well with two wins, over Villarreal and Shrewsbury, but ended it with three losses in a row, in which they haven’t scored a single goal – Palermo, 0-1, Augsburg 0-1 and Lens, 0-3.
Kieran Dewsbury-Hall is gone, having signed for Chelsea, but there are a few landings at Kings Power. Issahaku came from sporting and Okoli from Atalanta. The biggest loss was Enzo Maresca’s departure for Chelsea, as the Italian manager was the cornerstone of Leicester’s success last year.
Steve Cooper replaced him, and even though the Welshman has solid experience, Leicester fans have plenty of doubts about him.
Tottenham
We don’t know what the board wants from Ange Postecoglou. To make good results or to be profitable. Over the years, former managers have accused the Spurs’ management of being the main generator of problems in this unit, so the Australian coach is in a tough spot right now.
After four wins in a row in the preparation period, they lost the closing two against Bayern Munich. The first ended 1-2, and the second 2-3 for the Bavarians.
Dominic Solanke landed at Tottenham Stadium, being their most expensive signing this summer. The pacey forward should add more quality to a potent attack that already has Son and Richarlison.
Leicester: Hermansen; Kristiansen, Vestergaard, Faes, Justin; Decordova-Reid, Winks, Ndidi; Issahaku, Daka, Mavididi
Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Dragusin, Davies; Bissouma, Sarr; Kulusevski, Maddison, Solanke; Son
In the 2023 season, these two units had very interesting games. The first at Tottenham Stadium ended with the hosts triumphing 6-2. The second saw Leicester dismantling the rivals, 4-1. It was the first win for the Foxes after four consecutive losses against this rival.
Leicester is hyped ahead of this match, but from what we saw in the preseason, their game isn’t impressive. Just to remind you, the Foxes haven’t scored in three straight meetings. Tottenham does have problems in defense, but the offense is fantastic, and that’s the only reason we believe in their victory on Monday night.
Our verdict: Tottenham wins
