Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Liverpool vs. Everton at EPL
The Merseyside Derby is one of the most interesting in Europe because of the history Liverpool and Everton share. These two clubs have a massive rivalry, and their encounters are fierce and savage. We don’t need to say that both teams play below expectations this year, and that the situation in either of these two rivals is more or less alarming. Liverpool is out of the top four zones, and we just might see them missing the UEFA Champions League next season, while Everton could get relegated from the English Premier League for the first time in history.
Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp is in a terrible situation, with his team losing the past four EPL games, and slipping toward the middle of the standings. Liverpool’s performances are horrible, and we simply don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. The team is falling apart, and there isn’t a player who could be a spark that will bring them back on the right path.
In those four defeats, the Reds allowed 11 goals. In three of those clashes, Alisson had to take the ball out of his net three times, meaning that the defense is non-existing when Liverpool plays. Yes, injuries are something that disturbs the team, but still, such outcomes aren’t acceptable.
On top of that, the Reds are eliminated from the FA Cup, and don’t have a chance to win domestic trophies anymore.
Everton
Sean Dyche started with a win over Arsenal, but we need to add that the Toffees didn’t win due to their excellent play. Simply, they had luck, and lots of factors got together to see a 1-0 triumph over the leaders.
Everton will become an ultra-defensive unit under Dyche, who doesn’t like to attack nor dictate the tempo but prefers to lay back and wait for the rivals’ mistakes or counter-attacks.
That was the recipe during his tenure in Burnley, when the Clarets played arguably the ugliest football in England, but on the other side, with respectable results.
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Matip, Robertson; Thiago, Bajcetic, Elliott; Salah, Nunez, Gakpo
Everton: Pickford; Coleman, Tarkowski, Coady, Mykolenko; Iwobi, Gueye, Onana, McNeil; Gray, Calvert-Lewin
These rivals met 241 times, and Liverpool has an edge over the Toffees with 97 wins, compared to Everton’s 67, while 77 events ended without winners.
This year’s meeting at Goodison ended without goals.
Dyche is going to Anfield with an ultra-defensive plan. Have no doubts about that. But Liverpool’s terrible defense and their open and offensive style will draw out the Toffees, so we believe in high efficiency despite Dyche’s intentions. That’s why over 2.5 goals are the best pick here. We simply aren’t confident in Liverpool’s triumph despite them being massive favorites.
Our verdict: Over 2.5 goals
