Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for the Liverpool vs Everton Premier League match.
Merseyside Derby between Liverpool and Everton is one of the biggest local rivalries in England and Europe. The two fierce opponents meet this Sunday in another chapter of their big rivalry. While Liverpool chases the title, Everton desperately wants to avoid the relegation. They are in a horrendous position, and as time goes by, things aren’t getting better. And they should. So besides the usual rivalry, both teams have additional motives to give their best and win.
Liverpool
We’ve seen yet another display’ of Liverpool’s power, once they smashed Manchester United this Tuesday night. The fans at Anfield went home more than happy after seeing their favorites trashing the Red Devils with 4-0.
All of Liverpool’s strikers – Mane, Salah, and Diaz – netted, extending their perfect form and confirming that they are the most consistent and efficient attacking trio in European football since the start of this calendar year. Of course, we don’t want to neglect Firmino, Jota, and other guys whose contribution is massive.
The Reds have been perfect in the past five EPL games at Anfield. They won all of them, with a combined goal difference of 16-1. In the past four, Alisson didn’t concede a goal, meaning that the defense led by Virgil Van Dijk once again began playing at the highest possible level.
Everton
The Toffees managed to put two in a row without a loss. After a surprising win over Manchester United at home, 1-0, they took one point against Leicester, also at home, 1-1. Richarlison equalized the score in the second minute of the stoppage time, for an explosion at Goodison Park.
Three of their past four games were with both teams netting, meaning that Everton’s attack woke up following a period of disastrous form. The Toffees sit first above the red line with 29 points, four more than Burnely and with a game in hand. So they need their strikers in the best possible shape right now.
Everton’s form on the road is terrible, having seven consecutive losses across all the competitions. In all of them, they allowed at least two goals, having all sorts of defensive problems. The Toffees’ backline would usually fall apart after the first conceded hit.
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Firmino, Mane
Everton: Pickford; Kenny, Godfrey, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gordon, Holgate, Doucoure, Gray; Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin
The year’s first meeting ended with Liverpool’s confident win at Goodison, 1-4. The Reds were superb, rolling over the city rivals. On the other side, many remember the last year’s meeting at Anfield. Back then, Everton went back home with three points in the pocket after defeating the Liverpool 0-2.
We don’t have too much to tell you here because the situation is clear. Liverpool is a better team, and they are in excellent shape. This being a Merseyside Derby will only increase their focus and sense of urgency, meaning that the Reds will play with 100% of its power. That is why we predict their win.
Our verdict: Liverpool
