Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Manchester City vs. Tottenham at EPL
Manchester City and Tottenham will try to forget their defeats from the previous weekend. Both units suffered losses in big-time events, City against Manchester United and Tottenham versus Arsenal. The fans are frustrated due to this, so a win in the upcoming clash is a must.
Manchester City
A slap in the face for Citizens took place last Saturday at Old Trafford. Two quick goals in the late phase of the event knocked out the champs, who were up one goal until that moment. Haaland was useless, De Bruyne pale, while Grealish scored, but overall, his performance was poor, the same as most of the other City players.
This was the second defeat in a row for City, following the one in Southampton, where they lost to Saints in the Carabao Cup, 2-0. As you can see, the defense was pretty unstable over these few days, allowing two goals in each event.
Man City is highly confident at home, with eight wins in the past 10 contests. In five of those events, we saw them keeping clean sheets, and in eight, the champs netted more than once.
Tottenham
Tottenham suffered a very painful failure at home against their biggest rivals, Arsenal. Everything was over after the opening 45 minutes, with the first hit coming following Hugo Lloris’ mistake and an own goal. That stiffed the hosts, who couldn’t recover following that, allowing another score until the break, erasing its chances for at least a point here.
An extremely high inconsistency is Tottenham’s trademark, as well as blackouts in the back line. The defense is by far the most problematic part of this unit, and Antonio Conte doesn’t have any method of solving it.
Four of the previous five away games Tottenham played were with at least three goals, while three ended with both teams scoring. Of course, the Spurs’ defenders allowed plenty of goals, recording just one clean sheet during this stretch.
Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris; Romero, Dier, Lenglet; Doherty, Bissouma, Hojbjerg, Perisic; Kulusevski, Kane, Son
Manchester City: Ederson; Walker, Cancelo, Laporte, Ake; De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo; Mahrez, Haaland, Foden
The all-time series between these two clubs is even, with both of them having 65 victories, while 36 clashes ended without winners. In recent history, City isn’t performing well against the Spurs, who won four of the previous six meetings, in three of them not allowing a goal. The most recent game occurred in February 2022 at the Etihad, where Spurs won 2-3. The first clash of the 2021/22 season ended with Tottenham’s victory 1-0.
There is no need to waste your time here, because the situation is obvious. Manchester City will win this event because they have a home-court edge and a much better team than the guests.
Our verdict: Manchester City wins
