Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Manchester United vs. Liverpool at English Premier League
Liverpool seeks redemption against Manchester United. A win over the fallen archenemy would erase some of the minuses Jurgen Klopp’s team made in the opening two rounds. Now, if Liverpool had slipped, how can we call Manchester United’s fall, with the club experiencing one of the darkest hours in the last 20 years? The Red Devils got destroyed against Brentford in the previous round, and overall, the situation they find themselves in right now is terrible.
Manchester United
The Red Devils are last in the standings, which is something no one predicted. Erik Ten Hag’s arrival promised a better future, and the expectations were high, but for the moment, despair is the only thing United’s fans feel.
Counting in the preseason games, United didn’t win in the past four, opening the Premiership with two losses in a row, 1-2 at home to Brighton and 4-0 on the road in Brentford, where the Bees rolled over one of the biggest teams in England. Simply, there were no good moments in Manchester’s performance.
The defense is looking terrible, and we especially mean Harry Maguire. Lisandro Martinez is terrible as well, but he only landed a couple of weeks ago. Also, the situation with Cristiano Ronaldo is taking its toll, with the Portuguese’s unhappiness creating a toxic atmosphere.
Liverpool
Liverpool’s record in the first couple of rounds is two games, two draws. Now, they didn’t lose but are already behind Manchester City by four points, which is unacceptable. Their title races are pretty tough, and this could be pretty important in the end.
Another problem for the Reds is Darwin Nunez’s red-card suspension because the Uruguayan showed his temper against Palace and now has to cool down in the biggest English derby.
L’Pool has the game, plays well, and dictates the tempo but is without fire up front. Luis Diaz is in a crisis, while on the other side, the defense looks as if it lacks focus.
Manchester United: De Gea; Dalot, Maguire, L Martinez, Shaw; Eriksen, Fred, Fernandes; Sancho, Ronaldo, Rashford
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Keita; Salah, Nunez, Diaz
The last game between these units was this summer which was a friendly one, and the Red Devils won 4-0. Previously in the 2021/22 campaign, we’ve seen them play twice, and the Reds humiliated United, 0-5 at Trafford and 4-0 in Liverpool.
We are picking Liverpool to win because of the overall situation in Manchester United. Ten Hag probably didn’t expect such a poor start and he looks as if he doesn’t know what hit him. On the other hand, Liverpool has a perfect opportunity to get back on track with a win here and boost the morale before the remaining part of the year. In general, Liverpool is a better team besides all this.
Our verdict: Liverpool wins
