Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for West Ham vs. Arsenal at EPL
The London Derby will have a major impact on the standings and potentially on the entire season. West Ham is fighting to survive in the English Premier League, while on the other side, the Gunners are after the title and need to react following a draw in Liverpool last Sunday. On top of that, there is always the rivalry involved, so we have all the factors for one good, old-fashioned English derby.
West Ham
The Hammers were in a terrible situation a few weeks ago, but have bounced back. Four wings, one draw, and one loss over the previous six events across all the competitions are a sign that this team slowly begins to utilize its quality in the best possible way.
Beating Fulham on the road last weekend, 0-1, was a victory worth gold, and with those three points, the Hammers stayed above the relegation zone. Compared to all the other rivals, they have a game in hand which is a big deal in the current position.
They didn’t allow a goal in three of the past five home events, though, suffering a defeat against Newcastle, 1-5, in the most recent clash.
Arsenal
Mikel Arteta has to wake up his guys and prevent them from losing their ground like in the other 45 minutes against Liverpool. Arsenal wasted a 0-2 lead at Anfield, having one hand on the Premier League title, before allowing two goals and walking away with just one point.
The defense showed plenty of weakness, conceding in the fourth consecutive event, which wasn’t the case in the past. Arsenal had the best backline in the league for the majority of the campaign, and Arteta can’t allow its collapse in the crucial moment of the season.
Arsenal’s games on the road are efficient, with four of the past five seeing over 2.5 goals, three four or more.
West Ham United: Fabianski; Coufal, Zouma, Aguerd, Emerson; Soucek, Rice; Bowen, Paqueta, Cornet; Ings
Arsenal: Ramsdale; White, Holding, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Xhaka, Partey; Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli; Jesus
Arsenal was better in the opening game of the year, winning 3-1 at the Emirates. This was the seventh meeting in a row against the Hammers in which the Gunners haven’t lost, winning six of them. Five of them were with over 2.5 goals.
This game has massive significance for both parties, and we don’t expect to see them making some bold game plans or attacking right away, but quite the opposite. Under 2.5 goals is our recommendation because there is a lot at stake, with both units not having a margin for error.
Our verdict: Under 2.5 goals
