Ukraine and Austria meet to decide who advances to the knockout stage of the EURO 2020. A winner secures its ticket to the next round.
Ukraine and Austria meet in the last match of Group C to decide which team advances to the next stage. Both have three points, with the note that Ukraine scored more goals. We need to remind you that the four best third-placed teams are going to secure their position in the knockout round, and that also adds tension to Monday’s game. Every point, every goal, everything will be important.
We have to admit that the Ukrainians play solid football and that their matches brought the most excitement since the EURO 2020 began. Against both the Netherlands and North Macedonia, we saw lots of goals, tension, and intensity.
After wasting a nice chance to snap at least one point from their match against Oranje, Ukraine recovered, defeating North Macedonia. However, instead of quickly finishing the rival in that one, they allowed the Macedonians to come back and make things rough in the final few minutes.
Ukraine’s attack is doing well, for now, scoring at least two goals in the past three games, with Yarmolenko and Yaremchuk smashing the rivals upfront. Their partnership is one of the best at the tournament up until this point.
The Austrians didn’t show too much against the Netherlands. They had some pushes in the first half, but without too much success, allowing Oranje to impose its own style of play and dictate the tempo.
Franco Fonda’s guys have enormous trouble in the attack. This was the fourth match in the past five in which they couldn’t score. Considering Austria’s contests before this negative stretch, we are free to say that the attacking line slowed down in the worst possible moment.
Meanwhile, their defense was never really that much gifted and cannot cover up the inefficiency of the attackers, which is why the Austrian national team has just one win over the recent five meetings. In order to beat Ukraine, they will have to be much better.
Ukraine: Bushchan; Karavayev, Zabarnyi, Kryvtsov, Matviyenko, Mykolenko; Shaparenko, Sydorchuk, Zinchenko; Malinovskyi, Yaremchuk
Austria: Bachmann; Dragovic, Alaba, Hinteregger; Lainer, Laimer, Schlager, Sabitzer, Ulmer; Baumgartner, Arnautovic
The two latest games took place some 10 years ago. Both were friendly international, one in Ukraine in November 2011, 2-1 for the hosts, and the other in Austria, 3-2, also for the home team.
The first things that cross our mind here are goals and high efficiency. Over 2.5 scores is maybe the safest bet of the entire day, as these two sides play fast and open football, with an accent on offense, not the defense like the majority of other teams at this EURO.
Austria will have a huge boost because Marko Arnautovic comes back after his suspension against the Netherlands. He is the guy who can make a difference. For those who want to increase the profits, try with both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.
